Maybe NKF staff can call in and donate to boost the numbers, stand solid behind Durai.
By the way, why aren't the shows in Dual Language - Chinese and English? After this fiasco, NKF can consider besides lucky draws, bringing in the double-face-strip-to-protest-against-fur-wearing-and-now-struts-the-catwalk-in-big-mink-coats Cindy Crawford?

What is the justifiable amount of bonus that one should get in a charity like NKF? Shouldn't this be benchmarked to some where? Shouldn't any extra income collected in the annum be put into the reserve or spent for the benefit of the patients?
The bottomline is that who is keeping all these tabs on these charities? Why were they allowed to have such an operating budget where they can afford to have expensive taps and all. Shouldn't the funds mainly go to the welfare of the patients? Extra funds other than put in the reserves should go to purchasing more dialysis machines or higher subsidies for the patients. Is there a necessity to establish NKF as a world class professional body? Is this the vision of NKF?
Can we stop the donations because we are furious with the management of funds? The stopping of funding does not mean that the reserves will be used FOR the patients. This shortage of funding may just turn to be a reason for increasing the payment by the patients themselves!
These are just my thoughts. The accountability of charity organisations has really become questionable. -

He is already having a difficult time making his contribution to Singapore in the shadow of the dynasty. How many more years can he be in parliament? In fact, I like Mr Goh Chok Tong and his way of doing things.
It's just the "peanuts comment" i'm mad about.
It must be the common way of things among the elite of society

After all, their daily conversations must be filled with things like

I have my respect for Goh as a pm and sm, but it is inevitable that when some stupid and insensitive remarks were made, Goh CT would be affected, for that woman who made the remark is known as Mrs Goh, not ah huei or ah lian, and she would not be the patron of NKF if she were not the pm's wife. And about GCT's boss. Is it news that there are evidently 2 factions in the PAP? The quiet seat warmers who goes about working steadfastly and the other camp who is the power house? GCT is a great and patriotic man who has stood firm in office despite the seat warmer joke and pulled singapore through the troubles in the past few years.
So be grateful and criticize only the guilty. As for the other ladies, whether they have been invited or have decided to turn down the offers to be patrons, that's their business and prerogative. -

TT Durai to step down as NKF CEO
SINGAPORE : The NKF Board and its CEO Mr TT Durai have offered to resign in order to give the Health Minister a free hand on restoring public confidence.
In a statement, the Health Ministry says they have requested the minister's assistance to re-constitute a new Board and appoint a new CEO.
In the interest of the dialysis patients and the NKF, the Health Minister has agreed to help in this effort.
The Ministry statement says over the next few days, the government will appoint an interim board to ensure the continuous operation of NKF's vairous dialysis centres.
It will also work on medium term tasks including forming a new board, appointing a new CEO, reviewing accounting practices, funding needs and pricing and subsidy policies.
Pending completion of these reviews, the Health Ministry says the NKF will suspend all active fundraising activities.
Earlier, the Chairman and members of the board, together with its CEO, had approached Mr Khaw Boon Wan for advise on how to respond to the public reactions to the ongoing court case between the NKF and the Singapore Press Holdings.
Mr Khaw had stressed two immediate priorities.
These are that caring for NKF dialysis patients should not be disrupted in any way and secondly the shattered public confidence must be restored.

Hopefully, the severance of ties is in full and without reservations. I wish the new CEO and new board the best of luck. Gaining back the confidence lost from the public is a mammoth and unenviable task.
Perhaps the patron should step down as well while they're at it. Otherwise some leftovers will unsettle fresh faces. -
