Some Singaporean don't even earn $1000 per month ! Why they give money to charity ! And the charity ? Give so freely , spend so freely till ......... still have to collect money from Kidney patients who are suffering ! Don't have jobs !
Earning dead people money ? Or earning sick people money ?

The PAP regime is too entrenched in their ways that they have become complacent and corrupt. It is like what happened to the various empires in the course of history. When one ruling dynasty held power long enough, it became weakened from the inside and turned to despotism to try and hold on to hte last vestiges of power.

I think we are all over-reacting here. Mrs Goh's comments are surely not the most tact and politically correct ones. But to immediately link such a statement to PAP policies as well as Government policies would be to overreact. Let us not jump to hasty conclusions and follow the paths of those whom we criticise.

Frankly speaking, I am sure that the "peanut" statement will not be supported by the carbinet. Thus, should not a bamboo stick hit onto the entire boat of people. I am sure you all can see very good and fatherly people like DR Tony Tan, Dr Tan Chin Bock etc around.
But still 600K is not a small sum. I need to work and work, (no need to eat, drink and pay tax and my house and have children) for 15-20 years at my current salary level, w/o being retrench to accumulate this amount. -

the Defence Ministry spends S$x00 million annually on dont know what.. bombs, guns and pieces of metal.. all from tax payers money, and in the end, produce results like soldier died...

The word "peanuts" is a very disturbing word. Who knows if in the future, they might want to increase ministers/MPs salaries, they may argue in the way that since they are running organisations with billions of dollars in assets. Therefore, what's the fuss over possibly a million dollars of salary. A million is "peanuts" compared to a billion.
I sincerly hope the government can take a serious look at this instead of taking the same attitude of Mrs "what's the big fuss" Goh and also that this is not the start of the mentality of the future governments.
If 600K is peanuts, I don't mind being paid peanuts. -
Anyhow spend kind peoples hard earn money and still say they are right to do so.....
