It was a mistake to join Malaysia in 1963 only to be kicked out after less than 2 years. Couldn't we have waited until 1978 to break ties with London, join KL and gain independence along with Harare (Zimbabwe became independent in 1980)? Best if we remained part of the British empire until 2003, joined KL and are on the verge of being booted out this October, with CSJ as inaugural PM.Originally posted by SMAPLionHeart:Bo pian , must defend ourselves , if not life under malaysia , kena tramped under the foot by bumiputras, you want that to happen to you ? singaporean chinese and indians? work hard lah!
It will be lesser then peanuts. imagine our lives worth lesser then peanuts...Originally posted by IcedLemon:[quote]Originally posted by surfer188:

If non-regular who died on training, SAF pays <$10,000. That's all.
If regular who died on training, SAF pays the salary until the end of contract minus off all other allowance plus some amount >$20,000 I think.
true....if regular died while training, salary paid until end of contract PLUS another $30,000 n a piece of flag to cover ur casket. got another $30k + from CPF oso.
for NSF i not very sure.
Well... Even so, by 1969, we might still end up kicked out...Originally posted by iveco:It was a mistake to join Malaysia in 1963 only to be kicked out after less than 2 years. But think of it, w/o joining and seperated, would we have today?
Britain didn't dream of kicking us out of the Empire. In fact, they thought we weren't ready for independence. By joining Malaysia, we gave the impression that we had some form backing. After all, Singapore is like the Gibraltar of the East in some sense.Originally posted by sbst275:Well... Even so, by 1969, we might still end up kicked out...

Do you know that a lot of Army Guys apply on every peace mission because of the HIGH $?
If I could apply I also want to go. Who don't want $20,000 per month?

Bravo! Nothing could be furhter from that. Singapore is run like a corporation than a nation. Money & profit are everything.Originally posted by SilverPal:Sg is a country born out of commerce, now its leader rule the country by commerce. We have seen that money is the bottomline for the implementation of policies and that our politics is all about money. Examples of this would be superfluous for me to point out.
Now, the question is why would I defend this company called Sg Inc? Would you take to arms and picket fences to protest the closing down of your company that you are working for???
The possibility of invasion is so remote that those not in the army look down on those forced to serve it and those in it abuse the system. Why would I bother taking to arms when this company is threaten?
Perhaps someone can outline the benefits of defending this Sg Inc?
War comes, all reservists get called back. Taxes increases to "pay for war". PAP flies to an allied nation with their families to set up goverment in exile so as to "better rule without blackmail".
Generals fly to the same allied country so as to "better advise the leaders" and "manage the war better".
If we win the war, ministers will increase their pay to compensate them for the "hardship incurred". Police and military forces will curb and limit peasent freedom to "prevent reoccurance of war and unrest". All land and property will be confiscated by the state to "help bring the economy back".
All privacy will be removed to "weed out dissendents and enemies of the state".
So, once again, why should I defend Sg Inc?
for a million-dollar org, 600K is peanuts...Originally posted by crazy monkey:$200 000 for a BILLION dollar org![]()
Precisely, Singapore Inc. This was what mentioned by loong loong in the past erection.....by pap. We have to run our country like a company!!!Originally posted by iveco:Bravo! Nothing could be furhter from that. Singapore is run like a corporation than a nation. Money & profit are everything.![]()
Why would anyone want to die deliberately? Such people must be crazy.Originally posted by boy in blues:but maybe they worried that compensating too generously will set a precedence for soldiers to deliberately die so as to exploit compensation
I believe there are....Becuase their families are financially poor and so they sacrifice themselves....Same as with other poopr coiuntries where the girls take to prostitution to feed their familiesOriginally posted by iveco:Why would anyone want to die deliberately? Such people must be crazy.
nothing is transparent in singapore.Originally posted by macjoe:Does anybody know the compensation amount given by Mindef to the family of the dunked-n-drown soldier?
The Defence Minister said it's not appropriate for Mindef to disclose the amount accepted by the family. Why the secrecy and not transparency?![]()
