Well.. It is quite difficult for them to check everywhere... The best is that the contractors get their things done in a proper mannerOriginally posted by deathscythe99:And LTA has to be blamed also...
Never ENSURE
ahem the can't see barrier theory works both ways if he can't see the barrier it doesn't make sense for him to be able to see a person on foot easily too therefore he is in fact putting possible lives at risk.Originally posted by crazy monkey:a speed barrier could be better design.
ya right the cyclist is suppose to push the bicycle across the brigde.
but when its 6:30 am in the morning when he could be the only person using the bridge, that would be the smartest thing he would do.
i wonder if there is any predestrian who has not cross a junction when the light is red on a dessert juction in his life.
i am not a cyclist btw.
LTA is stoopid...design something like that...paint it green some more...why not lay the entire area with AP mines or even better make the barrier transparent...Originally posted by Bloop...:I agree the design could be better, but then again... designs could always be better.
I think the fact that it's 6.30 in the morning doesn't mean he can cycle on the bridge. Cause if that's the case, then what? Is 7am ok? 8am? 9?
Or you're saying it's because there's no one on the bridge? What if there was one person? Two? Three? What's the limit before they get off their bikes? Do you think a person who pushes rules won't keep pushing as long and as far as they can?
Can we drive on the sidewalk it it's 6.30 am and there is no one there?
Pedestrains do break rules too... and if one did run a red light and because of that, hit a bar on the other side of the road and hurt himself. Is it really the LTA's fault?
Oh sure...we'll see when the next lamp post falls on you. And I'll be the 1st to step out and say, "It is quite difficult for them to check everywhere..."Originally posted by sbst275:Well.. Brother, everywhere is already having such barrier...Originally posted by Profounder:Oh sure...we'll see when the next lamp post falls on you. And I'll be the 1st to step out and say, "It is quite difficult for them to check everywhere..."
LTA said the barrier has been in use for 3 years and nothing has happened till today.
Well, well, so imagine I'm a government engineer and I leave a manhole open along some pathway that nobody uses. For 2 years, nothing happens and suddenly, a passerby falls inside and get paralysed.
So whose fault is it?
What a joke.
Grey was the oringal colour of the pole what..Originally posted by Atobe:Whatever design the "Barrier" may take, it will always be a danger to users who DO NOT or CANNOT learn to obey the intentions of any Authority.
To minimise the liability in enforcing their intention, LTA could have minimise the danger to others.
Why is the "Barrier" painted GREY ?
Was it to blend the "Barrier" into the darkness, much like the grey paint on a Navy ship that allows it to hide in the dark or blend into the horizon ?
If the "Barrier" is to serve as an obstacle, it should be brightly painted or made more obvious.
If the "Barrier" is to serve as a deterrent and trap, then LTA had been very effective in its attempt to hit those who abuse all the earlier warnings not to ride across the pedestrian bridge - (Is this a Pedestrian Bridge, or simply a Connecting Bridge for all users ?)

It is supposed to be green...
The contractor just done the job 1/2 way..
i think its green so that it would fit in with the colour scheme of the rest of the structure which would then fit into the idea of SG as a garden cityOriginally posted by Atobe:The Navy used "GREY" to hide their ships in the open Sea.
The Army used "GREEN" to hide men and equipment on Land.
What was on LTA's mind to paint "grey" as a base, and "green" as the final color on this barrier ?
The bar, when it is made, it is grey...Originally posted by Atobe:The Navy used "GREY" to hide their ships in the open Sea.

'Cos they dun care, that's why they say it's difficult to check everywhere.Originally posted by sbst275:Well.. It is quite difficult for them to check everywhere... The best is that the contractors get their things done in a proper manner
Depends on how it goes...Originally posted by deathscythe99:'Cos they dun care, that's why they say it's difficult to check everywhere.
Look at Nicoll Highway.
I agree with you. If you go againist the law on your own impulse, you can't blame anyone else but yourself.Originally posted by Bloop...:Yes I have. I've ran across roads that I'm not supposed to. I've tripped and fell across a chain barrier at the Tampines mall too because of that. I don't blame the LTA for that chain being there.
I take the blame for not seeing that chain because I was jaywalking.
Simple as that - Don't place blame on someone else's shoulders when you get hurt doing something you're not suppose to do.
If a traffic cop had run out and stuck his foot out in front of me, that's a diff story.
Same in this case, it's not like the LTA hired someone to hide behind a bush with a rod. Then jump out and hit cyclists on their heads.
government tender is always the lowest bidder wins. thats why there are so many problems.Originally posted by Joshua1975:anyone know who design that device? local, FT or another peanuts man?

so sad? who is going to help the 2 kids now when volunteer need to be paid peanuts for charity work?
all will want to volunteer but who pay now?

yea...what is next?Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:i think its green so that it would fit in with the colour scheme of the rest of the structure which would then fit into the idea of SG as a garden city
But some major projects ran into problems. Flats in Fernvale were half-completed, road improvement works halted midway, and of course the infamous Nicoll Highway collapse.Originally posted by sbst275:Depends on timing...
