its either that or Richard Yong is lying to milk more public sympathy.Originally posted by robertteh:If a Doctor passed by the site of an accident and saw someone dying and decided to walk away, will he be disciplined under the current medical prefessional codes of ethics or duties.
Now if MOH knew that among the 32 patents some might be sent home by NKF to die, would he be as quilty of an offence or breach of the doctor's codes of ethics for which he could penalize any defaulting doctor.
That sounds a little harsh to me. Let's look at it in another perspective.Originally posted by robertteh:If a Doctor passed by the site of an accident and saw someone dying and decided to walk away, will he be disciplined under the current medical prefessional codes of ethics or duties.

Say a victim is having breathing complications, and the doctor in question is an eye specialist, for example. He would be expected to know some basic first aid. But what if he decides to offer assistance, and ends up causing more harm than good? Blame goes to doctor?
moral of the story is never let anyone know what you did is wrong of.Originally posted by Atobe:Eye specialist or not, he is a Doctor and has received the training fundamentals before graduating with a Medical Degree, which allowed him to progress to choose to be an Eye SPECIALIST.
In the circumstance brought up, the best that any Doctor - (trained in the Science of Medicinal Healings) - could do is to stabilise the situation to the best of his experience and ability.

SPH... Cannot trust them anymore, during bus fare hikes, they made lots of untruth, like what buses only used for 12 yrs out of 17 yrs allowed... If that's true, then those NAC buses should have been scrapped already since they came in late 1980's.Originally posted by Joshua1975:comon SPH leh, whose side they on you think?

What Mr. Khaw has announced reflected the same government's own tax-and-recover policy aimed at building of its own unlimited reserves now hitting S$220 billions causing extreme hardships to its people without accountability or transparency.Originally posted by crazy monkey:SINGAPORE : Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan has identified six crucial areas which he says the new National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Board must address quickly to restore public confidence in the charity.
A top concern he says, must be to ensure that patient care and existing clinical services in NKF's 21 dialysis centres is not disrupted.
Another area is a review of the NKF's reserves, and its adequacy before embarking on new fund-raising activities.
Thirdly, corporate governance must be reviewed to ensure the Board maintains sufficient independence from the management.
Mr Khaw stressed that the organisation has to fully address the public unease over allegations of questionable practices and inappropriate spending of charity funds.
Although no issues had been raised following previous audits of NKF's accounts through the years, he says it would be helpful to commission a fresh and detailed review of financial controls within the organisation.
The new Board has already appointed the audit firm KPMG for this and the findings will be made public.
In addition, Mr Khaw says NKF's communications with donors should be scrutinised to make sure there were no misleading statements.
And finally, the charity's pricing and subsidy policies for its dialysis programme should be reviewed to ensure adequate assistance was being provided.
He rejected the idea, however, of NKF providing dialysis services for free.
Mr Khaw says patients and families should take co-responsibility, so they could retain their self-esteem and live their lives more confidently.
Noting the impact of the NKF controversy on its staff, Mr Khaw says staff morale would also have to be restored.
so who shd be responsible for the misleading figures, Mr Khaw ?
