The ministers do not need to hold jobs involved in CCTV trade. There are creative ways to go about that restriction if they really want to be involved in the trade.
Do you know about a particular law firm in Singapore and its involvement in nearly every stamp duties on properties bought and sold?

basic low cost cctv is good for hdb flats , lift robbery is extremely dangerous
even more dangerous than malaysia infamous snatch theif.
it can happened to anyone.
and arrest is practically so low as no one can really describe attacker.
with cctv, can see who the person is but it will be useless if he wears a mask.
even yishun blk320 also get hit by lift robber and this block is only 50m from yishun police neighbourhood centre.
town council and police or national crime something should foot all the bills and do all the labour. -
What is the objective of installing of CCTV in HDB?
- To prevent terrorism acts or to trace terrorism acts? -
I think the HDB bomb shelter supplier now wants to supply CCTV.

However, with low crime rate in Singapore, will it then be beneficial to residents to pay for this? Unless the cost is low enough to be deem insignificant.
Perhaps they can extend the features to allow parents to monitor when their kids come home .... and make the parents pay for this special service to subsidize the recurring cost of it.

Consequence: Singapore, being small, become more and more unknown. Singaporeans will curse the govt for being useless and unable to establish a presence in the international arena.
(B) Inform the international community of our stand and gather rapport from our allies.
Consequence: kenna scolded here in forum by those who think that ministers are inviting trouble and terrorists to our door. However, unknown to us, we might be able to summons all the support we need from international communities if the unfortunate event should befall us.

singapore crime rate is not low. there are many go unreported. because people don;t want to waste time with police. or some chinese cannot speak english , dare not report police.
certain crimes in hdb estate is high and tough to crack.
a lift crime is ten times more serious than snatch theft.
i think town council has lots of money to install chairs and benches all over the extate. these concrete benches are not cheap, about $200 hundred a piece.
the wooden ones are at least $80.
just count the numbers of seats with bird faeces or shit.
cctv is peanuts to the millions in the piggy banks of town councils.
The effective of urine detectors has alos been proven effective, have quite a number of drunk people urine in lifts get caught. but seems like ineffective against dog urine. -
gov have alot of money.
they can spent millions on sports like Football.
so cctv is peanuts.
