I am sorry to hear that. Try meet the minister session in your area.Originally posted by redstone:They should reserve a certain percentage of places for those who do not meet the entry requirement!
MP appeal also no use....Originally posted by Cindyfeh:I am sorry to hear that. Try meet the minister session in your area.
If we are sticking to this standard of selection, we will be missing several Bill gates an Michael Dell.Originally posted by lwflee:You mentioned academic certs and prizes...imo, they are quite irrelevent because nobody really knows what it takes to get those prizes. The prizes are, i assume, awarded by your school on the basis of a wholly internal assesement. What we know however, is that when you took a standardized test, you failed to make the mark.
Imo, your certs and prizes should only be seriously taken into account when you have fulfilled the min reqs, and are competing for a place with other candidartes who have fulfilled the min reqs. Then, i think it would be logical that your certs and prizes would give you an advantage.
but that's not how the sg system worksOriginally posted by redstone:Not all people excel in all fields and people should know that.
Like Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison.
That is right.Originally posted by mistyblue:sg does not allow mistakes at all. make one and be condamned for life.
sg is quite unforgiving from top to bottom.
Have you tried?Originally posted by redstone:MP appeal also no use....![]()

yeah man... I am actually getting that uneasy feeling...Originally posted by Cindyfeh:That is right.
Come to think of it, everyone will make a serious mistake. That mistake is growing old! Once you hit 35, you better pray real hard that you will not be retrenched because of your high pay and that your company think your are not modern thinking enough.
This narrow-minded thinking seems here to stay.
That is why I am choosing migration. I want to migrate to another country where I will not be discriminated because i am 35 years old or older.
Wrong, if you're at the top you can make all the "honest mistakes" you want, to the tune of hundreds of millions. If you're at the bottom then you'll end up in prison.Originally posted by mistyblue:sg does not allow mistakes at all. make one and be condamned for life.

Imagine getting good results for most of the subjects required for poly entrance. But 1 subject missed by 1 grade. This appears to be the case for almost all education institution throughout the world. If you are a terrific student but yet fail to make the grade to enter a prestigious school such as Harvard or Cambridge, you can really only blame yourself for failing to make the grade. Almost all courses, unless the really poor reputated, need some basic standard and criteria for entries. If any Tom Dick and Harry can enter into the school regardless of their result, then very soon we can see the standard of the school dropping.
NOTHING you can do. They only see your results and nothing else!!!
Appeal, rejected. Academic excellence certs and prizes no use too....
And the govt is promoting the 'recognition of young talent'. You can get into some secondary schools by talent, into uni by talent more than results....
But post sec entirely different story?!
Cue - "You are a mouthpiece of the government!" + "You are logical, but we do not care!" + "PAP sucks!" + "Fark the government!" + "Stoopid civil servant! You must die!" ad nauseum.Originally posted by socrates:This appears to be the case for almost all education institution throughout the world. What Act?Originally posted by LazerLordz:Good.
But the yoke of the SAF Act around the neck of our male citizens is something of a double-edged sword not many are informed about.
I remember the principal of my JC complaining to me about this before.Originally posted by redstone:They should reserve a certain percentage of places for those who do not meet the entry requirement!
