THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION UNOFFICIAL CAMPAIGN HAS BEGAN
countdracula
reading the straits times you get a feeling the campaign has began and sph makes no secret who it's rooting for....it's pitiful to see the only national newspaper is taking such a bias stand. it was questioning if the challenger, andrew kuan has the right credentials apart for his accounting expertise..funny enough i wonder if the present office holder knows how to even read a balance sheet.
the new mr. nkf is solidly behind the present president, now we know why he was chosen as interim and later permanent chairman. the newspaper also seems to play up mr. kuan's church affiliation...i wonder why so? is it to highlight to those who are not christian to not vote for him??? disgusting...
i for one will vote for mr. kuan. i don't know him nor am i a christian but only because i hate rubber stamps. can he win? sure, remember mr. ong teng cheong won by a small margin? that was a slap in the face of pap. no matter what, mr. kuan (if he does not get disqualified because he didn't fill the form in blue ink..sacarsm) must get a good result to remove the mockery of the elected presidency...
this was mooted by then pm lky who wanted a counter check on the government. when the late mr. ong teng cheong took his duty seriously by asking to look into the financials of the state, the then pm goh was livid and introduced new laws to limit that. ironically, then mm lky suddenly said the president's office is non-executive but only ceremonial. poor mr. ong, whose passing only saw him a state 'assisted' funeral and not a full state honoured one for that one interference.
so folks, for all the rants that you've been making in these forums, it's time to act on it....
