Should SAF send soldiers to Afghanistan for peacekeeping rol

If the US requests Singapore, do you think BG Lee and Tony Tan will send soldiers over?
Why not send some covert Commandoes over with the US special forces. Maybe they can learn a thing or two... at least learn how to ride horses like on a covert mission

Hmmm I heard Malaysia also sending "peace-keeping" fanatic forces to afghanistan. Along with Indonesia... etc etc... Only problem is, they are playing for the home team.

Singapore won't send peacekeepers, they usually send medical teams etc. Imagine what it would look like if 19- and 20-year old NSFs are killed over there while as UN peacekeepers. I can imagine Heartlander bleating about it non-stop over here on this forum if that happens

Yeah...but sending a peacekeeping team would require at least a battalion. SAF got no battalion thats made up of regulars leh. Sending a medical team would be more realistic, and NSFs can join because
- its a humanitatian job, therefore more consstructive.
- being shot at is much much less than as a UN blue helmet.
Either that, or a observer mission made up of maybe 10-20 regulars like er've sent to Kuwait, Angola etc -
Anyway, i feel that we should stay out of afghanistan as much as possible. Lest Singapore gets dragged into this "Muslim" war.
Singapore sending combat peacekeeping forces would as likely as Israel sending peacekeeping forces to any muslim state. -

The medical team, was a humanitarian effort under the banner of the United Nations.
Also, there is no "religious" conflict, sparked in East Timor that would have affected ties with neighbouring countries. -

Medics armed with surgical knives, to be used in extreme situations. LoLz. Actually, there were combat peacekeepers sent I believe. Eg. Maj Indra Ali who appeared on several of the MRT posters.

medical team and observers: dats wats called peacekeepers lah!!!
my oc was a peacekeeper in kuwait. i oso know a csm who was a peacekeeper in timor.
only volunteer regulars and volunteer well-performing reservists are chosen. and not that i want to belittle them, but even my oc said his job in kuwait was like guard duty along the border. peacekeeper, not peacemaker, geddit?
