I have been thinking a lot recently, and come to realise something very special and beautiful about Singapore. From HDB, CPF, Hospitals to Coffeeshop, every plan and system in Singapore is carefully designed and engineered to suck your money dry. Who says Singaporeans are not creative? Instead of collecting higher taxes and having the need to provide free education and other social benifits, they do it in the form of collecting lower taxes, but integrate various forms of money sucking activities in your daily life. See? so no need to give you back anything ! SUCK YOUR MONEY DRY...YEAH! Sinkees love it.

Wanna go KL? That is what I call suck you dry. Though I agree, the sucking mechanism here is quite efficient, it is even worse in other cities. Be thankful that HDB subsidises housing, most people in HK pay large sums of money to pay for their homes, some even have instalments lasting 20 yrs!

They suck our money so they can spend or building other things like the MRT Line, airplanes and etc. One more thing the minister salaries they should keep it lower and not so high as they can use the extra money to help those needies and built more those that we need to use. Like build more MRT lines, improve the infrastrcture and not giving to those ministers as it was for their own use and not for national one. PS: Sorry to the PAP and government for this strong comment

in japan, you have to take a 90 year-3 generation housing loan to afford a house.

Yeah. I do agree that SG is hard to survive... but if you chose to get out, it really depends on where you want to go. To live comfortable, you can only choose those developing country. (like Msia) Developed countries (like Aust, US & UK) are roughly the same in SG. -
HK has the backing of rich affluent china businessmen in supporting the market. If you have been tracking the HK property trend, you would notice that the HK property artifically high price was mainly due to the creative work of the HK people who tried to "push" the property values during the property boom era before 1997. Many of these HK people came to Sinagpore and created some mini property bubble in 1994-1995, which eventually forced the gov to clamp down these speculative activities by introducing the 20% cash downpayment for private property.
HK property after the dot.com burst, was in a mess. Many HK properties has becoming a negative assets for the owners. Despite the HK property price has been adjusting in the past 3 years, their HK property average price is still more expensive than Sg due to the inflow of capital from mainland chinese.
