Singaporeans must act

I think that Singapore does not do anything if others crticise or say something bad on the country. Like the case in Taiwan which Taiwanese burnt our Singapore flag!!!!!!!! and nobody did or say anything back. I feel that we Singaporeans are not nationalistic enough. Nationalistic to the country not only pledge loyalty to the government/president, sing national anthem or national song and etc. We should somehow defend ourselves when some other countries attack us. We should not have riot lah or else being caught by the police. We should write a letter to the newspaper, government or maybe that country respensitive on complaining of such acts done to Singapore. Like another recent case is that JB MB says that crime rate at there is lower than Singapore which I feel is not so right. But Singaporeans didn't react on this which hulimate our national pride. We can ask like the JB MB to show out the figure to see whether it is really lower than SG then it is ok. We don't want to have dispute with other countries but other countries have their pride, we need to have it also. I think the government should encourage Singaporeans to be more in someway that we are being nationalistic to our country and have pride in it and also defend on it. I hope that Singapore would not have any confilct with other countries and so there would be peace and will not hulimate any countries pride. So we must act and cannot sit there do nothing

There's no reason why we have to argue with Abdul Ghani. The crime statistics speak for themselves. No doubt high crime deters foreign investors, a silent protest like the one at CPF was harmless. The use of the riot squad was overkill. Such an event is not significant enough to cause investors to pull out & shift operations to Malaysia.

Why do you care so much about people crticising singaporeans. Tell us if you have not done anything to cause unhappiness to others; will others care to criticise, condemn or scolding you? Because the powers that be frown on any attempt at very pro-active measures at public action, be it for Singapore or anti-some other country or regarding any issue.
Bottomline, they only accept things organised by them.It's all about CONTROL.THink about it.. -

I'm not saying you were criticising singaporeans. You were saying if other countries criticise singaporeans and why are we not standing up to protest or defence.

When is it enuff?
Our conservative response is also meant to ensure that there is sufficient pause and caution. We dun respond tit-for-tat style; if not how different are we from them? Are we to degrade ourselves into petty neighbours like the everitt road case? Should we bring Tawian and Malaysia to the international court and sue them for damages LKY style?
Being patriotic does not = to extreme actions. Responding to allegations and ridiculous claims in a dignified and objective manners ensures we keep out heads held high. Leave it to our govt to respond in the best possible manner.
They are at least good for doing that. -

That means that they are crticising our country and we just keep quiet already and after a while the siutation will settle down. So we no need to attack if not it is means adding more fire to it and make the situation very worse that can cause cold war between the two counties go to ICJ or even war!!!! So we just keep quiet can already and the problem will be solved. One more thing how Singaporeans are being patriotic and loyalty to the country???

I am hardly patriotic. I may be loyal to friends, family, relatives and forumites, but I can hardly identify myself as a Singaporean. I believe Cindyfeh is a lady and therefore, is born free (no NS commitments at all). She is free to give up her citizenship anytime and also come & go anytime she wants. With the staff shortage at public hospitals, I think we need NS for girls. I am not keen to risk my life when I get hospitalised and cared for by untrained nurses all around

I belived that Cindyfeh had been brainwashed by other people so she want to give up her citizenship being a Singaporeans and migrate to our countries. Combat medics serve only NS Men and whether they are well-trained or not, I as a male Singaporean have NS liability.
However, I do not hope that this "risk" extends to the rest of my life, especially the golden years when the chances of falling ill is higher

We're graceful enough to understand that their education system has failed to produce people who are more respectful of diplomatic situations.
Burning their flag does nothing but adds carbon dioxide to the ecosystem and further increases unnecessarily to the already high pollution levels. We're not like the Taiwanese who do not understand fire is a hazard.
The comparison is simple. Idiots scream and shout for their nation and enjoy exhibiting idiotic movements like burning flags, holding anti-this, anti-that banners. Intelligent lifeform does not need to resort to useless acts that does nothing but waste everyone' time. We'll lambast them for their senseless ways, rub salt into their wounded pride in a intellectual way and not be lowered to their stupidity level to portray patriotism. Of course, all of these done in our leisure time instead of 'working hours'.
