Singapore did a right thing for not giving in to a big country like Aus, like what we did many years back of that micheal faye case, we did not give in to US.
That is why Singapore is still well-respected, a safe country and a decent place to do business in because of our tough law. -
i strongly hope we can live harmony with the aussies and put aside this issue behind us. Aussies have to understand drug trafficking is death sentence whether the trafficker is singaporean or aussie.
if any singaporean commit a crime in aussie, we shall also be sentence according to your country criminal laws.
the death sentence is use as a deterent for drug traffickers . but once they are caught, have to face the consequences whether local or foreign.
i have deep respect to australia as a good country and i study there but i hope the aussies can also respect singapore legal justice system. He was given a fair trail and proven guilty which i believe the aussie has no dispute.
just dont do drug trafficking and nobody will be hang here. -

Look at Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Luxembourg, etc.
They were also devastated by WWII and yet they are at same level, if not enjoying better GDP per capital than singapore now.
The fact is that world economy boomed after the war and certain people just ride on that growth. It is just like you buy a unit trust and when the unit trust turns in a return of 10% you thought its great. But its nothing compared to the STI which increased 15% the same period. -

However why is it that the detractors also choose to focus on the bad and ignore the good.
