Until Goh Chok Tong take over PM,he suddenly "act smart" and bring in alot of so-called "foreign talents" without examine the condition of our country.Perhaps he thought that we are as big as the U.S.A or Australia and we have the quality to attract foreign talents both economically n politically. But then, this time his wife is right, our country no matter we measure it in economy, political or size,we are really "peanut".
FT exists long before GCT took over. GCT never in full control even as an PM.Originally posted by drawer:Until Goh Chok Tong take over PM,he suddenly "act smart" and bring in alot of so-called "foreign talents" without examine the condition of our country.Perhaps he thought that we are as big as the U.S.A or Australia and we have the quality to attract foreign talents both economically n politically. But then, this time his wife is right, our country no matter we measure it in economy, political or size,we are really "peanut".
Yup,u are right. We are only attracting "2nd class" foreigners into here, becoz real foreign talents will ask themselves a question before they come here, that is "Why the hell would i want to come here n take up citizenship when the PAP government are "ill-treating" their own citizens?"Originally posted by Quincey:Are we attracting the right ppl? I have no qualms if the foreign talent that is coming in are individuals who are truely beneficial to our country. Hell, with their genius, they might be able to actually do something and improve the present situation which honestly, we are have a problem grappling with. However, if we are allowing second-rated individuals in, to challenge for jobs, to take up spaces in our versities at the expense of Singaporeans, I say we need a relook at the policy.
ZZZzzzzzzzzzOriginally posted by Quincey:While I say that we should better seive the talent knocking at our doors, I also hope that we Singaporeans be more open to diversity. I think it is disturbing that we are tagging individuals with sterotypes based upon the country of their origin. Sure, he might be from China, she might be from India, but that does not make them any more inferior than us. Instead, we should take it upon ourselves to make sure that they feel Singapore, the Singaporean way, and that it is the diversity they bring that make us all the more richer and stronger. Yes, they outrun us in school, they take our jobs, but it is, we must admit, that they are better in that field. We must, all of us, rise up to this challenge they bring and just make ourselves better to be competitive. It is really distgusting watching individuals kicking the dust, creating for themselves false illusions of superiority.
However, that does not mean we must become some playground for all trying to find a better life. We are a nation crafted out of the blood and sweat of our forefathers, our parents and ourselves, we must never allow our country be trodden over by individuals who think they can enter into this society just because they want to. Thus, while we should be open to diversity, we should also be stringent of the quality of the individuals who want to become citizens of this state.

Yeah, why they come here becoz they can earn much more den working in their own country. Last time working for a company tat consists of many malaysian. U will see how their lifestyle improve gradually after working here for a few yrs. After working in singapore for a few yrs, they able to support their family, buy a bigger house ( which is bigger den our hdb 5 rm flat, got garden some more), buy a car etc. Even better den many ppl here, working all their life, some can't even afford a car n a big house to live in.Originally posted by Lowclassman:ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
