I think the action taken on the two racist blogs might be too harsh as blogs unlike the newspapers or TV, usually are private or semi-public place for people to rant or grumble among themselves. Sooner or later the people involved will forgiive and forget. YP website has seen worse posting than these two blogs.
At the most, these two bloggers who posted some incorrect or racist remarks deserve a warning or small penalty not something so harsh or criminal considering that we also are launching a yellow ribbon campaign not to condemn people.
So people should stay cool, objective and factual and continue to post what are right and correct to check on wrong doings in society all the time and not to give up. They can be determined and see what happen.
To speculate and say that because of these two cases, people should stay away from posting for fear of reprisal will therefore make ourselves self-defeatist shooting ourselves in the foot.
Internet is the greatest communication device man ever invented and people are emancipated into a new era of freedom of expressions among themselves to rant and to ruminate as they like even though some of the flaming may become excessive.
Because of its semi-public nature there is no reason government wants to close it down or apply over-harsh rules to protect its own self-interest.
So why speculate in a negative manner to hinder the people's own cause.
We can expect the govt to clamp down on anything remotely racist or extremist. Seeing as how these two posted unwarrented remarks to incite anti-racial behaviour, it would ultimately depend on exactly what they posted.
With the posts removed, it is unlikely anyone save the courts will know the exact words.
Still, it is probably an unprecendented act either way.
Had the govt done nothing, it could have been blamed for allowing bloggers to proliferate racist remarks.
In this case, they are being questioned for excessive use of force and over reaction by alleging sedition.
