Why is the gov not calling for GE yet?

I would think that with each passing day, more and more people are dissatisfied with the current gov. Wouldn't it be wiser for them to call for election as soon as possible while they still have supporters?

The next general elections is expected to be anytime from the later half of 2004 to the end of 2006. Though the current Parliament term ends in 2007, it is unlikely to be held beyond 2006. -

I tot they said it'll be held end of this year? Anyway, why hold the elections when we all know the answer? 40 yrs on and we still have the same people, same majority. Waste of blardy time. More important is, when can we elect our Prime Minister? Never i guess...

and how much percentage of the votes must i get in order to avoid losing the deposit?

Run a variety show, have the different political parties' representative perform different "DANGEROUS" stunts, make the people cry for them, and them ask them to call the number on their screens. 1900 - VOTE1NOW, or 1900-VOTE2NOW.
Occasionally, bring out a few "sad case" looking representative... to explain how difficult life they've had, and how every vote would help them lead a better life.

That one must be sponsored by individual parties lar... the different political parties will throw in their own incentives.
They might even invite a few citizens to play "wheel of fortune" live on the set.
Hmm then again, I guess if 1 particular party is always stronger than the rest, then they would win cos they can give more incentive rite? hmmmm... wat da heck... its always the same every time anyways... why not make it fun? -
If they hold elections, hope got lean capable party.
