All the problems currently faced by Singaporeans like high costs, election walkovers, class division of society into elites and quitters, unemployments, loss of freedoms of speech or views in blogs or internet were created by Singaporeans' own naivety in easily accepting everything the government said.
Many cannot see that the current drastic actions on racism in blog like many of the past policies e.g. GRC and welfarism might be precursor of tighter controls of views over the internet.
They simply cannot see that they are about to lose their last bastion of freedom of political views in internet and do not care. So which is the bigger problem - racism which is already well under control over the years or of losing their last remaining rights of political views.
In fact they only know how to sing praises of government intrusion into blogs and internet and not knowing that they are being short-sighted or stupid as commented by Lee Ao. By what they are doing they are signing blank checks to the govenrment to let it do anything it likes. They do not know that they are creating problems for themselves as by their apathy or kiasusim and their willingness to accept incursions of government control into the blogs, they are being stupid like kids. Or is it that they are actually stupid as the brighter citizens have mostly left them because they could not stand such nonsense. -

Well we are less sophisicated then chinese in HK or taiwan.. in a way thats true.. He isn't too far off when he commented that we are too accepting of the govt...
Anyway Li Ao is known for using evidence that is only beneficial to his stand.. but sometimes the evidence/facts that he grabbed are not the whole picture... he only uses just enough to support his stand even though its not the whole truth.. -

I must say yes we are because we let the industries dictate to cut our salaries for stupid excuses like we have so many IT skilled workers looking for Jobs, when actually they need to hire these Job Agencies to "filter" their cheap labour.
They refuse to pay Engineers proper salaries and Engineers keeps quiet. Fancy yourself having to go for an interview having prerequisites of / network knowledge/ OS knowledge/ server migration knowledge, then being offered a pay of a Clerk .
I really think one of these days we give them the blank look and say "My mouse is not working , quick send somebody to fix it!! " -
Singaporeans are not stupid but are naive generally.

In view of Li Ao's comment, I seriously think that whatever comments made must really follow by substantiation and proofs. We can be criticised, if only there is ground for the criticism. In this case, he has not explained why he feels that Singaporeans are stupid. For what I think, it is possible to dismiss that remark, since he cannot substantiate his comment, which basically makes it useless, even if he has ground for it.
Anyway, are Singapore ministers stupid? In this case, I think whoever comments so must have a better idea on how to run the country and must also be better qualified. Just joking, but wanna draw upon the impression that Singaporeans on the whole are not stupid. If we are, then Singapore would not have achieved its current status today.
