The increasing cases of ex-MPs being involved in illegal deals are matter of grave concern as they reflected on the quality and reliability of various incumbents as well some of whom are occupying key positions that have great impact on our lives.
Government should not be taking candidates for MPs and ministers too lightly based on only superficial paper abilities. They should have been tested for a period of time in lesser positions before being regarded as talents or elites.
PSC and elected president should have proper professional evaluations of all senior civil servants before they are being recruited into positions of responsibility. More accountable and good corporate governance please.
So far, we have 2 known high-profile cases of PAP members involved in dodgy business deals in recent years. Is there any data on opposition party members? The only notable case is Steve Chia's sex scandal, but even so, he was not charged.
Whatever the case, I think the Lew Syn Pau trial will have a fast conclusion, and media coverage will be subtle, unlike the time when all the dirt was been dug up on Steve Chia. What penalty Lew will get remains everybody's guess.
