A Fine Country?

As published in the chinese evening paper on sunday.
Coffee shop in Pasir Ris imposed a fine of $5 if anybody is caught bringing food and drink other then purchase from shop...
While it's not very nice to bring yr own food into coffee shop, drinks shd be ok cos not everyone opt to drink coke or coffee even mineral water cos sometime it taste a bit weird. Oso there are those who can only drink plain water due to health reason. Not to mentioned the super profit coffee shop is making out of drinks (200-300%).
Anyway, the point is, will it be oppropriate for coffee shop runner to imposed fine on customers? Shd such practice be stop?
Will you be fine the next time you spoke to a salesman for 10mins without buying because you wasted his time? -

Vote with our wallets, stop patronizing the shop. Or order takeaway, then no need to buy drinks. -

Nope probably pester u during yr meal. Bad enough to spoil yr day. This sort of news ain't helpful especially at time now. Already there are so many ppl affected by the economic downturn and looking for ways and means to save that little bit of extra cash if any. Sigh... so much bad new oready... The fine on seatbelt, the 5% gst, another 5% gst + custom duties to be impose on goods bought in from malaysia, the cpf cut, night erp etc. Dunno got anymore to come or not? Oh yes, oso dun know when lost job

I've been noticing a lot of these fines cropping up lately in many coffeshops.
Sheesh, if they think they want to fine us, think again.
S'poreans have this tendency:
E.g: "Oh no, Kopitiam A making a 5 bucks fine for outside drinks. Must go to Kopitiam B, allow outside drinks and food."
If the coffeeshops dun learn, they'll suffer..
