Oh...these are so called the singaporean elites trained and influenced by our top CEO or coe, chairmen of these and that in big oranisations of sg and blah blah......Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:ok i'm working in the ngee ann city and i heard this story from one of the cleaning aunties
their jobs are supposed to be under contractors and they're paid every few days, something like $300 for 20 days
one of the uncles just quited his job because his supervisor's cut his pay by $200 from his pay of $300, his side of the story's because he was late from lunch by around 5-10 mins
and another auntie's had a pay cut all the time because of something like a cubicle without toliet paper fine $30 and something about the dustbin fine $50
and she cried quite a few times while relating this to her colleagues
and she can't find another job because she's physically handicapped so she can't leave the current one
my question is, can anyone tell me if this is normally what is being done or is this one of the more extreme cases?
it has been happening since the twenth century in singapore... in addition, it's gettin' worse each year.... this is one of the extreme cases that you have seen...Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:ok i'm working in the ngee ann city and i heard this story from one of the cleaning aunties

there are many who will exploit the situation.
nope... however, it is best to have a minimum wage...Originally posted by Salman:If you insist on minimum wage, the contractors will be forced to use foreign workers. Do you want more foreign workers?
What to do? You can't fight globalisation right? You don't reduce costs and we will lose jobs. Which is worst? Low wage or no jobs?Originally posted by organization:it has been happening since the twenth century in singapore... in addition, it's gettin' worse each year.... this is one of the extreme cases that you have seen...
ok.. 1st off, i am extremely sympathatic to the elderly in these 2 cases, but we have to see the whole story to give a fair judgement. like you say, it was in his words that he was deducted $200 for being 10mins late. what if he was always late for work? always late back from lunch? always slacking? you have to consider all these possibilities. being a supervisior, sometimes u have to do something to exert you authority or else those aunties and uncles will climb over your head and piss on it.Originally posted by oldbreadstinks:ok i'm working in the ngee ann city and i heard this story from one of the cleaning aunties

No. Its an equality system where the rich will become poor and the poor will become rich. We Singaporeans will lose our jobs because we demand high pay and the Chinese gets to be richer cos they can do what we do for less and gets paid for it.Originally posted by babymac13:It's a class system, the rich ones will get richer, the poor one will get poorer.
