It doesnt work this way. Since age immemorial, a Dalai Lama is the head of Tibet, as well as its spiritual leader. Been their culture like that for ages.Originally posted by pat33:First. Dalai Lama should decide long a ago to either be a politician or a spiritual leader and not both. It is easier to play one role than to be both and to fight his cause according to that one role he has choosen.
Second. If he preaches patience, tolerence and non-violence in dealing with China, he should stick to them. He should have faith in his beliefs and not hasten this process because now he is old and departing.
I think it is abt time they talk abt the autonomy of tibet at handOriginally posted by laurence82:It doesnt work this way. Since age immemorial, a Dalai Lama is the head of Tibet, as well as its spiritual leader. Been their culture like that for ages.
You cant just impose the modern concept of separation of church and state onto Tibet. Naturally, as a Tibetan, he would be concerned that his people would be free. We all know how barbaric and idiotic the Commies can be.
Secondly, is there anywhere it suggest he is advocating violence ad intolerance?
Pat ,for your info the past Dalai Lama was the Political Ruler of Tibet during the Mongolian RuleOriginally posted by pat33:First. yep, about time, Pop also used to be the political ruler and you know when it's darkest eraOriginally posted by bohiruci:Pat ,for your info the past Dalai Lama was the Political Ruler of Tibet during the Mongolian Rule
Dalai Lama was to ensure the stability of the Tibet Region ,due to many fightings among the warriors and the thieves in Tibet Plateau
If he given up the Political status , He will not be able to do much to ensure the stability in the Tibet region
nah , a governor cant do that , unless that governor is a tibetan and knows the tibet culture and custom and religion very welll and handle with great tact
Using past data to forecast future outcomes?Originally posted by 38Ž:yep, about time, Pop also used to be the political ruler and you know when it's darkest era
When Pop can change his status, why till 21st centrary, the less influencing tibetan monk can't change ?
You know when it's Tibetan Middle age till 1950s? When most of tibetans are serf ? And the ranked Monks called Lama have the asolute power over those serves?
ya, If you know some history back, U would be impressed how "well " they handled Tibet with such "great" tact like excruciations and Executions
In the first place, Buddhists around the world don't pray facing Lhasa like the way Muslims pray facing Mecca. They are also autonomous, while Catholics give credit to Rome over their home states.Originally posted by 38Ž:yep, about time, Pop also used to be the political ruler and you know when it's darkest era

Which old spiritual and political leader didnt abused their power? The caliphs of Baghdad, the Pope in Rome....but people forget that we live in the 21st century, they dont do this anymore, no mainstream faith has this problemOriginally posted by iveco:In the first place, Buddhists around the world don't pray facing Lhasa like the way Muslims pray facing Mecca. Still, the fact that Ben 16th's office holds immense political clout doesn't go down very well with me.Originally posted by laurence82:Which old spiritual and political leader didnt abused their power? That is besides the point. The fact is that the Papacy interferes directly with policy making many a time. Even legislators (and voters) have their free will.Originally posted by laurence82:U just want him to unban ur Arry Pothead stuff lar![]()
Wait wait, with whose policy making?Originally posted by iveco:That is besides the point. The fact is that the Papacy interferes directly with policy making many a time. Even legislators (and voters) have their free will.
The influence of the Papacy is helping the Republican cause in USA. It seems that more Catholics are voting for Bush's party, according to one report Honeybunz posted 2 nights ago.Originally posted by laurence82:Wait wait, with whose policy making?
Hope they will ban Arry Pothead in US....Originally posted by iveco:The influence of the Papacy is helping the Republican cause in USA. It seems that more Catholics are voting for Bush's party, according to one report Honeybunz posted 2 nights ago.
That's the problems u r facing. Ur shallow knowledge on the tibetan culture Cripples ur somewhat wild claims. ( P.S: Don't solely use western media as your input, specially those Hollywood)Originally posted by iveco:In the first place, Buddhists around the world don't pray facing Lhasa like the way Muslims pray facing Mecca. How you know Tibetan NOT facing Lhasa's the Potala Palace when they come to the holy place for thier pray?
Actually I can tell you Tibetans are the most devout prayers in the world. To them, Their " Mecca" is the Potala Palace in Lhasa. when they come to their holy place for praying, they can't take any transportations and have to rely on their legs to cover the whole distance, That's not all, They also will knee down towards Lhasa for praying once when walk every 5 steps. When they knee down, their limbs have to fully touch the ground in order to show their throughout devotion to their God
Mahayana Buddhists don't do that. My former neighbour was one of them.Originally posted by 38Ž:That's the problems u r facing. Ur shallow knowledge on the tibetan culture Cripples ur somewhat wild claims. ( P.S: Don't solely use western media as your input, specially those Hollywood)

No wonder the whole forum put you on their blacklist, when he refers to the Tibetans and you gey gao talk another thingOriginally posted by iveco:And never in any of my posts did I ever mention Tibetan Buddhists. I was referring to Buddhists in general.
Seriously, you act as if you have something against me. No wonder HCRC put you on blacklist. There is something terribly wrong with your nature.
Look here, 38Z is implying that certain Buddhists mix religion and politics. As far as I know, Buddhists are more liberal-minded than most Christians. I remember Earthlings once said that Dalai Lama recognises the status of LGBTs in society (or something to that effect).Originally posted by laurence82:No wonder the whole forum put you on their blacklist, when he refers to the Tibetans and you gey gao talk another thing![]()
