I am compelled to start this tread after seeing the whole toilet business surface again in Today's paper.
In it, the writer has no qualms using handicap toilet and even poked fun about the need to reserve the cubicle. From what she said, handicap =
those in wheelchair. Then I think she should open her eyes and look around.
There are people who is handicap but not necessarily be in a wheelchair. These
are mainly elderly people. Maybe the handicap sign has its flaws. Should include elderly folks.
I don't fully blame her as she is still young but what I can't stomach is that she put it in print in a paper that is widely circulated and read by our future generations. Of course eveyone is entitled to his/her opinion.Lets not start our young in the wrong direction. If she need to use the cubicle in dire emergency(she will faint and die wetting herself) , then by all means. If she simply use it for that 'little bit of luxury'(she said so) then it is a definite NO even if there isn't a wheelchair bound person within the 10 minutes she need to do her business.
Just imagine her action. Will someone follow? Handicap cubicles are bigger and have special fittings that cost money. The fittings wear and tear are greatly increased if everyone use it.What happens if a handicap person wants
to use but the fittings are frequently spoilt.
All I can say is for us to be more gracious in respecting the need to reserve these
cubicles for the people that is intended for.
Let's not harp on this subject and give XX more publicity than she really deserves....
