I have to say I agree with your statements. Aussies tend to whine too much, about everything.Originally posted by getlaid.com:I am pro Aussie having studied there for a few years. But with regards t othis issue, I say Aussies butt out and get a freaking life. Can't the condemned guy read?
Read the freaking arrival card and what it says before you land in Singapore. It says death to drug traffickers and idiots who think they won't be caught. You wanna take the risk, you be prepared to DIE. In the army, you can do anything just don't get caught, you get caught you face the consequences.
So Australia, stop whining like a spolit brat, stop throwing tantrums like a little child. You can't aways have your cake and eat it. Why don't you make noise to Indonesia and stop them from hanging or inmposing the death penalty to that Bashir guy or those guys who bombed Bali and killed so many of your kangeroo mates? Why? Doesn't drug trafficking kills as many of your mates as the bombs? Why hold a vigil for someone who brings so much harm to your children? Why don't you hold a vigil for those who were harmed by his drugs instead?
Think mates. think.
Isn't that like us? or any nation's citizen if it came to issues like this?Originally posted by breytonhartge:I have to say I agree with your statements. Aussies tend to whine too much, about everything.
I doubt this time round the Sin garment will back down, we do not depend on Australia for survival, but we have no choice to back down in the 80s as we are very dependent on the US to give us the economy boost.Originally posted by fudgester:I'm gonna bet that the MIW is not going to back down over this issue. However, I'm also gonna say that there is actually a 0.0001 % chance that they actually will.
In the case of Michael Fay, we actually did back down a little. After Clinton appealed for Fay's sentenced to be lightened, the number of strokes given to Fay was cut from 6 to 4. It's not the same as a full commutation, but you have to admit that it was a step backwards.
I hope in this case, we won't back down at all. Reducing Fay's sentence was a mistake in my opinion, even if it had little more than symbolic value. We can't have a sovereign nation telling another sovereign nation what it should do with its laws. If I'm in Australia, I will follow their laws. Likewise if they're in Singapore, they better jolly well follow our laws. No one here is above the law - that includes Australians.
If it were a Singaporean facing death row for a drug charge in another country, I will shed no tears for him. Harsh words from me, but I that's how I view drug traffickers who try to destroy the lives of others - with utter contempt.
They are a different breed of whingers. Singapore whigers whinge, but do nothing.Originally posted by BillyBong:Isn't that like us? or any nation's citizen if it came to issues like this?
Is CSJ still a leader?? Anyway I doubt his integrity in a lot of matters, much of his doing is for his own gain.Originally posted by seneca04:See what this "Chee Soon Juan" say to the Australian Press
Singaporean politician backs Nguyen legal challenge
A leading Singapore opposition figure has added his voice to those urging Australia to mount an international legal challenge to the planned execution of Melbourne man Van Nguyen.
As the mother and brother of Nguyen arrive in Singapore to say their good-byes, the campaign to save the 25-year-old's life continues unabated.
Nguyen was sentenced to hang for attempting to smuggle 400 grams of heroin in 2002.
Chee Soon Juan from the Singapore Democratic Party has told the ABC's Lateline program that Australia should pursue action in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Dr Chee says Singapore has gone to the ICJ on other matters and it would be in its interest to abide by the court's rulings.
"It's hugely, hugely important to take this step because the Singapore Government has gone before the International Court of Justice in terms of arbitration of disputes between Singapore and other countries," he said.
"I think it would be in Singapore's interests to want to abide by some of these matters that come before the ICJ."
Nguyen's lawyer Lex Lasry also believes a case can be made.
"It's not too late to persuade them they're making the wrong decision," he said.
"Under some conventions... it may be that their appearance before the international court is compulsory."
The Federal Government says it is taking legal advice on the matter.
Nguyen's execution is due on December 2.
Yeah...call us constrained whiners. We wanna protest, but have x 4 anti-protest police standing by to swat us.Originally posted by ditzy:They are a different breed of whingers. Singapore whigers whinge, but do nothing.![]()
That is because they manage to "persuade" Indonesia, now they want to do the same to Singapore.Originally posted by Typhoon:Oddly enough, notice how the tumult over Nguyen Tuong Van has only sharply increased in the last month, despite the fact that he had been sentenced nearly half a year before?
The reason is one Schappelle Corby, who dominated the news until it became apparent that no further concessions could be wrangled out of the Indonesians.Poor Nguyen, born neither white nor female. His countrymen only started caring when it has become too late.

More taxpayers money down the drain for bullshit like this.
From what I hear from my Aussie mates, there are those who think we are cruel and those who think we should hang him to set an example so it's divided on their own ground as well![]()
