I think they were trying to be more humane too ....Originally posted by dragg:what is the reason for insisting on using the hanging method. any idea?
i tend to believe it is the cost factor.Originally posted by Fatum:I think they were trying to be more humane too ....
the drop method of hanging is definitely more humane than say, electrocution or the firing squad .... thing is people often get confused from the type that people commit suicide with ... (you know, the one where you tie a rope up a tree and kick away the chair ) ... now that one is a nasty death ....
I'm not sure if the lethal injection method would be any improvement though ..... if it' s implemented
reminds me of china, they charge the cost of execution to the family of the one executed, dunno how many RMB for a bullet.Originally posted by dragg:i tend to believe it is the cost factor.
what ? ... electricity bills are high ? ... bullets are expensive ? ...Originally posted by dragg:i tend to believe it is the cost factor.
That's the medieval and dark ages.Originally posted by Salman:Beheading is the best and most honourable way to die. No erection, no pain, no poisons in the body, just die. I suggest we use the guillotine cos its strong and guaranteed to do the job.
Plus you get to harvest the usabel parts to save people.
the equipment and accessories. hanging doesnt require much.Originally posted by Fatum:what ? ... electricity bills are high ? ... bullets are expensive ? ...
I guess the humanitarian aspect of this extends beyond a quick death for the condemned as well .... the condemned's families get back a nice, whole body with no overt signs of trama, no burn marks from electric shocks, no bullet holes ... it's unfortunate that the criminals' families has to pay for their crimes as well (but i suppose the victims' families are victims too ) ..... but i suppose getting back a body with no obvious signs of trama would make things easier for them eh ...
okie ... perhaps an electric chair may be expensive ... but i was googling on the US death penalty the other day ... and one of the state's electric chair was home made ! .... as for the firing squad .... expensive ? ...Originally posted by dragg:the equipment and accessories. hanging doesnt require much.
i am not about to challenge you on this. i am not sure too.Originally posted by Fatum:okie ... perhaps an electric chair may be expensive ... but i was googling on the US death penalty the other day ... and one of the state's electric chair was home made ! .... as for the firing squad .... expensive ? ...... bullets cost 50cents each ... and a prison already has guns for their guards, no ? ...
I still think we chose hanging out of humanitarian considerations
yups .......Originally posted by dragg:i am not about to challenge you on this. i am not sure too.
i thought a new law has already been enacted for this. if you dont opt out they consider you agree.Originally posted by Fatum:yups .......
but there's another question ....
do they ask the condemned if they want to allow his organs to be harvested or something ?... with all the chaps waiting for a kidney or a heart .... the condemned chap can save a few lives in return ... and perhaps earn a few brownie points with the big guy upstairs eh ....
anyone knows about the policy on this ? ...
(that probably won't work for lethal injections though ... all the organs would be contaminated eh .. )
that's just for accidents i believe .... but for executions too ? ...Originally posted by dragg:i thought a new law has already been enacted for this. if you dont opt out they consider you agree.
It better than firing squad where the body splatters.Originally posted by BillyBong:That's the medieval and dark ages.
And for those who think lethal injection is > hanging, then it's really a relative choice.
As soon as someone discovers another method to execution which appears far more humane then the current methods, people are going to scorn the existing ways and jump ship to the new.
Yes for executions.Originally posted by Fatum:that's just for accidents i believe .... but for executions too ? ...
I know for sure they don't bother with consent forms in china ... a chinese chappie's mother here is a doctor back home ... and she has to visit the execution grounds in guang dong regularly to harvest fresh organs ! ...![]()
In Singapore, if u can last for 5 minute when u are hanged and not died, then u will be free because u have cheated death.Originally posted by Icemoon:Hanging is inhumane.
we should use injection. machiam going for operation like that.
kinda awkward question for this forum,Originally posted by sinicker:is it true that the person to be hanged is naked when they're about to go on the rope?
is it true that the penis will erect when the person to be hanged is gasping for air?
Pardon has been denied. The mother even wrote personally to the Queen. But no reply from her.Originally posted by yuppy4life:Just a stupid question here.
Singapore is following its own law, While Australia is asking for some humanity.
Can we just avoid the conflict by asking the presidential pardon???? The guy however can still remain in Changi Prison under Singapore's custody.
In this way, both sides can save face.
no, a pardon will mean losing face for singapore.Originally posted by yuppy4life:Just a stupid question here.
