this thing has blown up so big, there is not gracefull way for either side to back down ... how can this chap get a presidential pardon when we've been hanging our own chappies ? .... or why should this chap get a goodbye hug from his mom when other chaps hanged previously had to follow the no contact rule ? ...
i think it's a good lesson in the destructive power of the (aussie) press, and what over sensationalism can do ....
perhaps if things were nice and quiet from the start ... a quiet word from one FM to the next and the chap may just have to rot away for the rest of his life in changi prison (on Singapore tax-payers expense), it is sad ... but with this kind of scrutiny, there is no way out but to execute the chappie ....

Presidential pardon just means that the president is kind and decide to not let you die. It does not mean that singapore's law is lax or anything like that.
All Nathan has to do is just let him don't die and the Aussies will be happy and singapore Government also can save face. -
I think the government should not hang anybody, we need to allow them to turn over a new leaf, give them a brand new chance in life... So I suggest the government give them monthly allowance in exceeding of $100000 for them to repent, the better they get, the more money they receive. Also, just in case they are homeless, I also suggest government give them a bunglow each ah. By the way, they take public transport people are scared of them, so I suggest we give them a BMW each ah... Hor seh liow!

Lethal injection might be a better substitution for hanging since it less painful, les gross maybe? But do bear in mind that lethal injection will cause some parts of the bodies or some organs not suitable for usage.
Well, this case is definitely a must to follow.
