Just as u shouldn't hire an underqualified candidate, u shouldn't hire an overqualified one.
That's why it's more difficult for him. -
now im doing my university education... im already trying to network, get to know all those rich men's sons and daughters... hopefully after i graduate, i can find a job as their toilet cleaner, clean their beautiful gold taps n toilet bowls.. yooo hoo...

if you are over qualified, delete a few things off your resume, don't need to write such a spectacular one. Besides, maybe over-qualification is the new term they want to use to not accept people.
In any case, I have read many resume, and everyone lies. Usually they put in extra stuff. So just put less stuff in, they won't complain, and don't act too desperate.
There are sooooo many jobs in singapore, don't oversell yourself and you will be fine. No one wants to hire someone who has better qualifications than he or she does. They are afriad for their own positions too! -

I agree with you on this. He would be better off looking for a job in China perhaps, especially if he is fluent in Chinese. True...I would rather hire a poly grad who can do the job of a grad. If the person is good, I will pay him/her a graduate's salary. Our goverment should relook their idealogy that re-training can ensure that one remains employable.

I said it before, I'll say it again: Once you reach a certain age in Singapore, especially if you are local, your chances of finding gainful employment diminishes greatly!

Actually, even before they become fully "talented", they are already welcome into singapore. Look at how many china and indonesia "scholars" running in ntu and nus. These half-talents pay no school fees while a singaporean youth needs to!
Next, ever wonder why many singapore fresh grads cannot find job even now when the economy is recovering?
Ans: Malaysians, china chinese, india indians, and indonesians fresh grads from Auz or UK or US have easy chance to come here and work. Many of these are rich sons and daughters and they rent condos to stay in. You know who own the condos... and its Ka Ching for their cash register. -
