Yes we do.Originally posted by aniyaseo:do you learn chinese history?like qin ,han ,tang ,song ,ming ,qing dynasty history?
that is history, the important thing is the future.Originally posted by Jayshen:I think it was an excellant show. It really showed singapore as singapore. I really feel proud to be a Singaporean. Very motivating to know that we all are part of this Asian Miracle. Really makes work and studies more meaningful to know what we are striving for.

when are they re-running part 2?
any idea?
The comments made by GCT on JBJ in the show were chilling: the PAP carried out defamation suits agaisnt him just because he was an advocate of welfare. It just shows how complacent our govt has become.Originally posted by dragg:that is history, the important thing is the future.
from the program the govt dont sound too confident.
The program did mention the racial riots.Originally posted by diggo:IMHO...Overall.. not a bad program.
However, they did not put in the racial riots during the sixties and the fact there are still opposition party in the current parliment. I am also not sure whether it is correct that we are protray as a socialist society...
I dislike the comment make by George Yeo. In the program, he said that if issue like ban on chewing gums is put onto a referendum, most Singaporean will support it. What make them think they know Singaporean well enough to make that kind of assumption?Originally posted by pikamaster:The comments made by GCT on JBJ in the show were chilling: the PAP carried out defamation suits agaisnt him just because he was an advocate of welfare. Ex-DPM Tony Tan's comments were insightful though: We must not just extrapolate from our present. Unfortunately, I wish that he has realized that that is exactly what we are doing, expecially for education.
Hey we're not that ignorant yeah.Originally posted by aniyaseo:just becos if you do not know chinese history ,how you see chinese ancient costume drama ?no felling ,i think .
Precisely. They assume too much.Originally posted by jxjoox:I dislike the comment make by George Yeo. Same goes for the capital punishment issue whereby our PM said that most Singaporean would support it.
The program ends by saying that Singapore is going to face the same challenges like in the past or rather, right in the beginning when Singapore was founded by Raffles. It didn't elaborate or I may have missed it. However, it also said that since Singapore had managed to solve those challenges in the past, we should be able handle those same challenges in the future.Originally posted by dragg:that is history, the important thing is the future.

true enough... deep within, the number of people who would actually support government proposals, such as banning chewing gums or capital punishment, would not be reflected as well as what the government might think... however, there lies the question... how many are actually willing or, more likely, unafraid to object?Originally posted by jxjoox:I dislike the comment make by George Yeo. they are saying this once too often and should stop it!!!Originally posted by jxjoox:I dislike the comment make by George Yeo. That shows how much more objective you need to be about Singaporean politics.Originally posted by Nelstar:I am more interested in the history of my bank transactions.![]()

The riots mentioned is the bus-co riots.. the racial riots comes later. As for the classification...IMHO, the verdict is still out.Originally posted by jxjoox:The program did mention the racial riots.
So you think Singapore should rightfully be classified as a democratic society? Check out Wekipedia to understand what socialism is.
