I don't know about what is 'KLness' and its relationship with KL(port klang) and what has it got to do with migration to singapore, but singapore is full of malaysians and even some of our ministers came here from malaysia.

Investment need not involve head or regional offices. Sure, singapore has many regional office of MNC which hire 10 or 20 staff. But they have manfucturing plants which hire hundreds of people in other countries which are not their regional office or head office. Other than creating hundreds of more jobs, the building of these plants also contributed to the construction industry. How much construction is needed for an office to house 10 or 20 staff?

I was replying to Salman's post that Port Klang was behind singapore. Port Klang happens to be very near KL and it is reasonable to reason that it is a port of KL city much like the Pasir Pangjang port is the port of Singapore City.
Anyway, if singapore is such a great place, MANY Malaysians would want to through away their Malaysia IC and take up Pink IC in singapore right? That is not the case. You just do a survey with your Malaysian colleagues if they would want to take up Pink IC in singapore.
singapore is so full of malaysians doesn't mean that the malaysians have taken up Pink IC in singapore. It just means that many are here to earn the money and go back to malaysia to enjoy their cars, and landed properties. -

In singapore, They are willing to work for 75% of a singaporean's pay and they can find jobs to pay them such amount. After earning that amount, they get to enjoy the benefits of buying landed properties in Malaysia. Throw in a car too!
Try earning only 75% of your pay (assuming you an average singaporean) and then try to buy a landed property and a car in singapore. -

Really? Cars are cheap because Msia is big. If Singapore is as big as Msia, we too can have cheap cars.
You can leave Singapore if you don't like. Maybe you can make Singapore bigger to reduce car prices. -

Oil and gas industries go where there are oils and gas, oil refineries stay near where the oil and gases productions are. Nothing to do with business or investment environment. singapore has gone passed the stage of building factories for thousands of workers. HQ employ 20 to 30 high caliber staff, highly paid, expat who comes here and rent houses, children in expat schools.....we don't need investment to build factories, to boost construction industries?
You need to learn more to talk about investment, economy or industries. Don't try before you know what you are talking about. You make ppl laugh.
Singapore is a home for most, paradize for some, hell for some. We don't go round the world and ask why they should come and stay here. if you are only looking at contribution from expats that you can benefit, I have nothing to say. you are not in the league, you need to work harder.
Should singapore economy continue to be built on factories employing thousands of low costs labour or industries that produce higher value added outputs employing highly qualified ppl? think carefully, the rest of us are moving ahead.
Whether singapore grew by default or by leadership is not determined by whether the "KLness" want to come here or not. We don't build the country for singaporean, what is singapore to you? you should go join the KLness, drive big cars and live in bungalow.
