IT APPEARS it's not just women who risk getting the boot from their work place when they go on maternity leave. There are men who defer their reservist in-camp training (ICT) for fear of being replaced.
I have a friend who is working in an IT position based on a one-year renewable contract.
The Ministry of Defence notified him that he was scheduled to go for his ICT this month. But he deferred his training for fear of losing his job to some foreign talent.
It certainly is not fair for any company to terminate the employment contract of a contract worker just because he has to serve his country.
Can the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) address the concerns of NSMen, like my friend, who defer their ICT because they don't want to lose their jobs?
Can MOM take to task employers who unfairly terminate the employment of staff just because they go for reservist ICT?
Its no secret why singaporean males are not preferred for jobs thx to National Slavery.
Thats why nowadays you see so many female working environment. The rest of the jobs go to the foreign talent. I have been on different jobs so many times and never once, especially in an office environment, saw more males than females. In fact one company I have been to has only one male in the office. -

I will rather pay the govt to serve NS. Its a good break from my work. A great work out camp away from the stresses of work.

it does not hurt to defer ICT if he is working on contract basis.
i believe his CO will approve considering the circumstances. -
but if his not in civil service, his job would be in danger!

I have always been in the private sector and never faced a tinge of discimination serving two to three weeks NS every year. So what talking you?
In fact I enjoyed by NS. Its a great priviledge to serve my nation.
You people just don't known how this nation got to where it is today, thats why you are always complaining. And I bet you will be losers in life. The most you will be is average. -

If all you can do is launch personal attacks when people state their views and arguments, and call them puppies and clones of CSJ, then does it matter to them?I don't think they would bat an eyelid even if you were to continute haranguing them etc.No one here will let this place degenerate into a SammyBoy forum, if that's what your intention is, to insidiously bite away at the foundation and cause it to fall. -
