It is a matter of the heart where he is.Originally posted by FireIce:he will be buried in singapore meh?
Point of view, point of view.Who told us that?Originally posted by cornyfish2000:I doubt... after all, he was the President who was disgraced as a result of his alcoholism and unbecoming behaviour while in office.
How come the great beloved leaders at that while pushing for Devan to be President couldn't spot such an easy disgrace like alcoholism?Originally posted by cornyfish2000:I doubt... after all, he was the President who was disgraced as a result of his alcoholism and unbecoming behaviour while in office.
He was asked to resign, if i'm not wrong... that's why his time as President was unusually short.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:How come the great beloved leaders at that time couldn't spot such an easy disgrace like alcoholism.
UYBD!
Media.Don't believe what you hear.Look at the vested interests.Originally posted by Cindyfeh:Anyone watched the channel 8 news about Devan just now?
There was a 2 minute clip about him. Half of the time, the clip was saying Devan was a communist. After 15 seconds of chanting he was a communist, I was like DUh! Then after 1 minute I was like is there no other points about him other than he was a communist?
There was also so much excessive focus on another certain person till I was thinking... Whose passing away is it exactly?
The music that accompanies the clip wasn't exactly right. It was like those you will hear when you watch a WWII documentary on Japan bombing singapore.
I am disgusted that TCS treated the passing away of a TRUE President so lightly...
Pardon me, I thought there was half mast when he died? Or I remembered wrongly? In secondary school, I see about two half masts.Originally posted by robertteh:The meaning of contribution to Singapore will not be decided by the people. It is not defined by the dictionary but by the leaders' own dictionary. If leaders say someone is the people's president then he is.
No matter how dedicated Ong Teng Cheong has been to the president's office, he was not acknowledged for contributing to the people's cause or struggles. He has once gone against the leaders by trying to please people wish for upholding accountability over the people's assets and he recommended a way to help the people from the surpluses in recessions.
As usual then, it is decided that Nair did not do enough to help ward off the communists in his time and there will only be a private burial. There will be most likely state burial and no half mast.
Don't feel that it is a twist. They are just voicing out their thinkings.Originally posted by Salman:These anti govt puppies are taking teh death of a man, a sad event to twist it to attack the govt. There is nothing too low for these peope. Shame on them.

There was a thread mourning his passing. This thread's title states it's very much a discussion about hsi burial. Why can't you put together a coherent case on why they should not discuss his burial, instead of using labels again.Originally posted by Salman:Even if there is a half mast, Robert Teh will say that is hypocrisy on the part of the govt because the media told us that Nair was a communist and that the students were not taught exactly who Devan Nair was and most don't care.
