There's no order at my army unit to half-mast for Mr Nair. I'm COS tomorrow and I think I'd probably raise the flag full.
Perhaps some neutral academic should attempt to write an objective, balanced biography of the late President. But I doubt he'll find it easy to access good research material here. -

All Singapore President that have passed on should have the state flag at half mast for the respect to the past Head of State and the honourable duty of taking care of Singapore.
It should not be decided by how much contribution that he have done for Singapore.
He was the President of Singapore, not any ruling party.
Therefore, all the past president should be given state funeral at the same scale.
No discrimination should be render by any one or any party.
Certain procedure should be fixed so as not to devalue significance of Singapore President.
If the funeral can be changed due to like of the ruling party, there is no need for Singapore have any President as the post is not even respected. -

If the demise of the President of Singapore can be treated so lightly as to writing a letter in expressing the condolences, without the leaders of Singapore going over to attend the funeral, do they expect the Singaporeans to respect the existing leaders if they pay no respect to the ex-head of state ?????
If they can using taxpayer money to fly around the world instead of dealing the urgent issue of Singapore economic recovery, can they not do the urgent and IMPORTANT task of paying their last respects to the ex-Head of state instead of giving a seminar in Hong Kong ?????
If so, what is the meaning of the Singaporean in paying tax ???
