what is this Nelstar, GCT has promised us more good years ahead and swiss standards of living and he has delivered on his promise. you just need to look around you. GCT promised more good years ahead but the heavy levy on entering the political system of our country has made democracy a monetary figure. The heavy levy was imposed in the first place to prevent people from making a mockery of the election system i.e to prevent any tom, dick or harry to suka suka join for fun. Its true that it could deter potential candidates from standing for office for fear of losing the deposit in the event he/she fail to obtain a certain proportion of votes but the government noes what is best for us
remember what our leaders have said Nelstar, we are not ready for western style democracy. -

Please tell me, for goodness sake, how efficient is levy compared to having no-monetary levy attached election but political party based participation?
If a person/group represents a political party which in turn represent a combined group of active personnels who believed in certain clause will that be a better solution as compared to the monetary focused election?
And by having a law where political parties can only be formed to participate in election when they have a big enough representation of their clause in numbers, wouldn't that be more efficient?

Our leaders know best for us is like saying we should let our lives be run in a straight channel to the end instead of having multiple channels to choose the end product.
This is the most defining moment of my life, listening to such enthusiastic the Government knows best theories.
Can you answer whether its the people that define the Government, or the Government that defines its people? -

Probable candidates:
1. Teo Chee Hean
2. Tharman Shamugaratnam
3. Ng Eng Hen
4. Vivan Balakrishnan
Of the lot, Vivian is the youngest and the one i can most relate to in our generation. If Lee Hsian Loong stays on for the next ten years, Teo will be in his early 50s and may be the ripe age to take the helm, though i can't say much for him. Met him personally at an OCS reception once. Rather aloof i thought.
As for Tharman, let's see his progress in the education ministry first. The current administration is still too bureaucratic and choke full of ultra directives and mandates. Time for reforms and changes.
Not much is known abt Ng, who prefers to shun the limelight and makes only rare appearances in the press.
Frankly, i prefer Lee to stay on.... -
