serving ns is alrite. but however i dink 2 yrs is still abit too long. 1yr might be just nice.
living in sgp is already tough enf. have 1 more yr or even 6 months more. will do our lifestyle a big benefit. -
I disagree with that. He is a Singapore-Born Singaporean therefore it is mandatory for him to serve NS. But however, if he isn't born in Singapore but obtain Singapore Citizenship due to DESCENT, then i feel that it is extremly unfair to punish him as firstly, he does not belong to Singapore and secondly, he left at 12 years old. And furthermore, he DOES NOT need to discharge his NS liabilities if he wants to renounce his citizenship later on, in fact, the Singapore government would automatically "cancel" him if he did not take the OATH by 21 years old.

You know, I sometimes feel we should not come down too hard on Jehovah's Witnesses. In fact, it is more noble to serve one's conscription in SCDF than the other uniformed services due to the fact that the former are not a battle-oriented organisation. -

Still, shunting the Witnesses over to SCDF might be a good idea, but how are you going to solve the incidence of more Witnesses appearing because of this option?Unless they know that being a Paramedic and Disaster Recovery personnel is not something of an easy nature. -

Jack Neo served his NS, JJ Lin served his NS, Sim Wong Hoo served his NS.
Elvis served for 2 years in the US Army after receiving order to report in Dec 1957 @ age of 23 when he was already a star.
He reported for BMT in Mar 1960 @ Ft. Hood, Texas and was assigned recuit #55310761. After completing he training, he was then posted to the 3rd. Armored Division "Spearheads" in Germany where he served for eighteen months. His mum past away when he was serving there.

nah i give more examples, justin-henin hardenne and kim clijsters both got serve ns and they become stronger in mentality as tennis players.

Every year, we hv NS men getting seriouly injured or die in the process of training or carrying out their duties. So is that fair for the fallen's families and love ones when some prefer to come to a draft-dogger defence ?
