  Anybody watch discovery last night?
  
  2 things that strikes me.
  
  LKY is AKA Harry Lee
  The name Malaysia is a combination of Malaya and Singapore. MalaySIa

  no I didnt know.. but i think it was a very smart move to change his name because of the pro chinese anti british atmosphere during those days.

  No lah, these invented the name Malaysia because it is Malaya plus other parts of Aisa such as Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak.

  Singapore has no sia, so how can Malaysia be a combination of Malaya and Singapore. A true combination would have been Malaypore or Singaya or Malaysin.

  Why chop the si and rejoin with another 'a' at the back?
  I think a better way would be Malaypore. That waya, nobody would have mistaken it to be a combination of malaya and Singapore.

  Someone from discovery must have done their research on this before they show in on TV. if you want to question this, i think you should not just speculate, but rather do your own research and proof them wrong.
  
  Honestly lets now waste time on this. If you guys think the Malaypore or Malaypura (sounds like Malay Poorer ) is a better name, than in next life be a Malaysia Tenku loh...

  majority of singaporeans were all the Ah Ti Ah Kow, and Singapore was colonized by British. The last thing you want is to have a British name to rally a crowd of chinese coolies towards independence.
