A freindly suggesion can result result in unfriendly replies and trying to glorify himself for his involvement in opposition. Well. I can only say, he's not cut to be in politicis. It's plain stupidity.

It starts with one vote. And one choice to vote for who you think is the best, not who you are told is the best.Originally posted by Archirodon:I would not go into offensive if you were friendly. As for Cindyfeh, i'm just being straight to her.
Nah, enough of the strategies the opposition are adopting. Sadly, I am looking forward to voting the opposition in the coming GE but there won't be much of a difference I guess.
I happen to know how the new PAP candidates are head hunted and shortlisted. They sure have many rounds of selection and the cream of the crops are being hand picked and groom into politics. To be very honest, the opposition chances are slim.
Well, good luck to these "brave heroes".![]()
Pity I am not interested to stick my nose in people's ass, unlike you, a typical puppy of the xxx party. Just in case for those who don't know, puppies/dogs tend to smell other dogs arses.Originally posted by Archirodon:Please read the earlier posting before you share your views. Or can you read?

Please do not consider maid and construction a talent. They come to Singapore with both hand empty. You may want to consider the China Mei Mei talent as they can help you to dig some information from the successful businessman.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:For the Opposition to win, it will have to show that it is credible. If you want to cut taxes, you will have show how you will meet the shortfall. If you want to get rid of foreign talent, you must provide an alternative to the construction industry that needs cheap labour and the Singaporean families who want maids that work all day without weekends off.
GMS,Originally posted by goh meng seng:Dear Archirodon,
I know your suggestions are just harmless; however, I may sound "tactless" but this is the HARD FACT of REALITY that I am telling. It is easy for people to make suggestion without making due considerations.
I have NEVER DENY that AT THIS VERY MOMENT, alternative or non-PAP parties ARE VERY VERY WEAK; thus, we need more people like you with a good social-political consciousness to JOIN or help out, not merely standing on the sideline to make suggestions and comments.
We may not LOSE every deposits, not even losing ANY deposits but the fact is, YOU NEED THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY FIRST right before you could enter into the field! This is the NECESSARY conditions to be met first! Put it another way, if you have $1 million would you want to lend it to us in the very place? We will return it to you if we did not lose any deposits, deal? How many people in Singapore would lend us that kind of money?
We are prepared BOTH to win and/or lose. This should be the correct mindset. Even so, we still need the "entry fee" of $1million!
If you are talking about long term, then you would not be asking us to field all seats! We could find the ALL the candidates we wamt but of what quality? If most people of quality like you shy away from participation, then naturally there will only be "lousy" candidates left!
I would say you have the loser mindset, not me. At least I chose to fight on, get dirty in the mud but you have no committal to help in any ways but resigned to spoil your vote!
We have long term strategy, but a very REALISTIC one. PAP didn't field all seats when they first started. They are being realistic. At this moment, we are starting from scratch, all over again. Thus, we could only do our best to field as many good candidates we have but the cruel truth is, there are many people out there like you, prefer not to do anything except spoiling your votes. Thus, it is not possible for us to field all seats right now and WE as a nation have to live with it, you included.
This is chicken and egg thing. If you are not prepared to help or join us, then please don't complain "opposition is weak". We are so because there aren't enough people willing to take risks or contribute. period.

Bit unfortunately, this time round, I have to agree with him that this post of yours contains more emotion than rationality. Rational people wouldn't have to shout, tt is type words in Caps. If you are angry, you are expressing emotion.
1) The word "hard" itself shows that you are imposing your views on the person you're talking to, i.e. Archidoron. That's not being cool and polite.
2) if you wish to be more calm, you can drop modifiers: "very very", "never", "very", "merely". The last sentence fragment shows a looking-down on other people (i.e. Archidoron). And if I may add - to no intended offence - that last sentence is exactly what the PAP says when it is alleged as not listening to public feedback.
3) Scrap the first sentence. In fact, cut the entire paragraph. An entire paragraph of presumptions is not the staple of rational discourse.
4) Cut the exclamation mark.
5) Cut the exclamation mark, "all" and "shy away".
6) No need to stress "realistic"; if your argument is strong enough, people will naturally see the main point. No need to stress the "We" either. But I do think it is right for the oppo to (WP or otherwise) to emulate PAP's strategy of the 1960s, although you guys should bear in mind tt PAP contested against a weak colonial /colonial-supported govt; u pple are contesting against a strong govt that has firmly entrenched itself.
7) Snivelling at others won't help your cause.
thx

What a joke pika! Calling someone a loose cannon is not insulting but pompous is. That certainly prove you are pompous, isn't it?Originally posted by pikamaster:I, therefore, feel very insulted for being called pompous. Besides, seen in a more objective manner, the metaphor "loose cannon" merely describes an action or manner of action; it is not a true ad hominem.

Surely you need a mirror, come on.... Oh, well, perhaps your are right, no need a mirror because is cracks on you afterall.
Merry Christmas to you pika! Ho ho ho.

Sorry, I forgot you might be blinded too. Too blinded to observe simple things in life.
Yeah, its Christmas time, do you need a walking crane? Perhaps we can get you one. How about a nice oak piece? It will be very useful for you when you are walking with three legs behind your owners.
I wouldn't use your definition of pompous. It's just as simple as one who thinks highly of himself or self-important. Quote "......dismisses others as idioits.." It's exaggerated.Originally posted by pikamaster:Arichidoron,
Merry Christmas to you too, and a happy new year!!
Have you heard of the proverb "duan zhang qu yi" ("taking meaning from a sentence fragment")? If you want to determine if someone is pompous, analyze the TONE of the post; don't just make a stickling point over a few words. If I were pompous, I would have used a term more insulting than "loose canon", and would have been much more vindictive toward GMS. After all, a pompous person would aim to show that he is entirely superior to all others, and would write in a way that dismisses everyone else as idiots, which I didn't do definitely. Or perhaps, I should challenge you to prove that I did.
and IMHO, this post of yours sounds very pompous.
