Yes after being treated as slaves of sg, I should thank foreign talents for taking away our jobs! let me go and thank my former malaysian production line leader who loves to scold singaporeans every day! what do you know? even production operators get to become foreign talent!
AS THE world celebrates International Migrant Day on Sunday, workers in Singapore too, will have somewhere to go to mark the occasion.
.
In recognition of migrant workers, non-profit organisation Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2) and its partners, which include the Ministry of Manpower and the Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics, are organising an open-to-all sports carnival at the Queenstown Stadium.
.
This event is "a gentle way to just say thank you", Ms Braema Mathi, TWC2's president, told Today. "Singaporeans and foreign workers together built this country. We need each other. The Singaporean is a global citizen," she added.
.
The organisers hope that Singaporeans will show their appreciation for migrant workers' contribution to the country's prosperity, giving thanks to an indispensable — but often overlooked — group of people.
.
With more than half-a-million foreign work permit holders in Singapore, the organisers are hoping that the carnival — which lasts from 7.30am to 1pm — will fill out Queenstown's 5,000 capacity.
.
Those who attend will be treated to sports competitions, songs and dances and presentations to foreign domestic workers.
.
Attractions include goodie bags, a photo exhibition and stands put up by some of the carnival's sponsors, which include SingTel, SingPost and the Public Utilities Board.
.
Foreign workers attending will be able to find out more about sporting facilities, courses and helplines open to them. Employers and other members of the public, too, will get access to useful information. Serene Chua
