And today's ZB made a comic strip on the Las Vagas thingy, if we want to move on and improve to prevent another similar issue to happen, be mature esp SPH, doing such comic strip is not going to help... Already Gerald Ee himself is trying his best to get things back to the correct way and they are doing this... Is it fair to the innocent party as in the kidney patients?
tell me. how does the present saga affect the kidney patients? the reserves are more than enough to last a few years. nkf keep using the patients as an excuse for singaporeans to move on. WHY?
all because they dont want to face the fact and do what is right. all they want is for things to go back to normal so they can continue to canvass for donations. -

Why are not fear of the word moving on? It is a plot by SPH to get all charities into trouble... You see all charity are having not enough donations aft the NKF saga.. Sooner or later, it is going to create a mess, that is irreversable

That similar incident you are talking about is already happening right now in this country. I draw similar parallels to the way TT ran NKF and how the PAPpy is running sinkapore. Folding NKF sends out a signal. recent charities received good donations too. without nkf there is still kdf. why should singaporeans continue to donate to nkf when they cant be trusted. it is obviously from the recent reportings that they arent really keen on getting to the root of the problem. -

If we cannot move on aft this saga and learn the lesson, I think we have failed. Because we are the ppl that is unwilling to see the mistake and improve and instead whole day saying such things -

Obviously MOH cannot be overseeing NKF because there is a conflict of interest. NKF take the load of treating kidney patients off the government. Without NKF, MOH will have major headache of building dialysis centres and subsidising poorer patients.

In fact, I did remember an article that SPH said Dr Vivian asked the charity to pull up their socks, which I did remember he said instead govt will help them if they are in trouble... It ended up Dr Vivian writing in... If SPH still have TVNews, this may not have happened
Even there is no NKF, there is KDF... That is kinda right... If I can remember, KDF, NKF and another kidney foundation met up onto possible cooperation... -

NKF has 6-7 years of reserves. Not all charities has the additional buffer of having reserves. I don't understand why gerard is so intent on inculcating to us that without further donations, NKF might close shop. Why is that? 6-7 years is a bloody long time. Citizens should not be beholden to any charity. Particularly so peasants -

In this, I have to agree with Salman that NKF should stay, reformed, corrected and continue to serve. It must show that when mistakes are made, the relevant authorites are prepared to face the realities and make good what were wrong.
The previous management MUST be punished to serve as a deterent for all. If there is nothing done to the management, it might serve as a green light for the govt. that the people of S'pore are ok with this and that they will just "move on".
We must "make noise" to make sure that the govt. "hears" what we want so that they will act accordingly to our wishes.
I would not take no for an answer if there was no action taken against the management of NKF, especially TT Durai as well as Mr. Goh Cheok Tong. After all, she stood up for him during that eventful episode when everyone was questioning him.
She must understand that there is a price to pay if you say the wrong things and stand on the wrong side. Especially since all the money were from us- the general public! The money was for the NKF patients! Really should slap oursevles for letting this happen. And do you know why this happened?

Yes. NKF have to be closed down, or at the very least its name will have to be changed. Even if that is done, charity shows on TV are going to carry a stigma for years.
Even my lao peh says he would not be donating any more $ to these shows where everybody takes a cut. Far better is to help those peddlers on the streets or save the money for charity on yourself.
NKF is National Kidney Foundation. The word "National" is an eyesore. In its heyday, it is held as a model organisation. Now it is National Disgrace!
