After the profused bleeding experience with Suzhou Industrial Park, it will seem that the lessons have not been learnt about doing business in China.
Did we not relieve ourselves from being a major stake holder in Suzhou, and allow the Chinese to run the show in the manner they are accustomed to ?
How much more do we need to lose before we allow Civil Servants and ex-Politicians to spend huge sums in tuitions fees on unlearnt lessons ?
Amazing the amount of monies that have been lost and made known.
What of the losses that are not announced and unheard, and that have been incurred by the various Government Owned Businesses - such as Singapore Telecoms, Sembawang Corporation, Singapore Technologies, Chartered Industries ?
What of the losses incurred by the larger numbers of lesser known Business Names that are also owned by the Government ? -

It is the Government aka the Ruling Political Party who had taken it upon themselves and had decided to put their nose and hands into the running of every aspect of Singapore - from Trade Unions, to Managements, to Big Businesses; and even the lifestyle, social and moral habits of Singaporeans, and the micro-management of Life in Singapore to fit their Political Agenda.

Yes, we are probably losers - because the Government had molded us in their same mold that started out of insecurity in the 1950s, and till this day they remains insecure of their own political future, and that of Singapore - despite all the "false" bravado propaganda that they put up for public consumption. -

in a way it does. with the protection it gets, it gets to grow big allowing it to squeeze its suppliers who in turn have less to pay employees who would ultimately be ordinary folks like us. so in that sense it is holding our money, albeit unreasonably.
another way of looking at it, since it is so big locally, it should give much better discounts compared to other non-protected supermarkets. but it is not, so the rebate that rightfully should accrue to us is being used to fight a losing battle in china, so it's the people's money that's being lost all the same. -

I can tell you NTUC FairPrice makes the highest profit margin compared to provision shops or whoever, disregard parallel imported goods.
Also, other ppl have to content with COD term, NTUC demands 90-120 days...
