then who the hell is the ntuc secretary general?Originally posted by Salman:Nope, NTUC people are not civil servants.
Does the gen sec run the whole NTUC?Originally posted by snow leopard:then who the hell is the ntuc secretary general?
So I miss the word "DO" in your question - "DO - you want big govt ?"Originally posted by Salman:Can you read? My question is, do you want big govt?
I did not ask if we have big govt. Thats why my question is, 'why do you always look towards the govt to blame and for soliutiuons?'
It is this type of loser's mentality exactly that the people still need govt. for so many things. Grow up man!
If you think I am BS, I put this clearlyOriginally posted by Salman:Lets back track and see what you people BS.
One says NTUC gets 120 days while competition pays COD.
Then back track and say competition gets 30 days while NTUC gets 120.
After pressing, you ppl say NTUC buys big volume while provision shop buys small volume.
Let me teach you ppl common sense. When a big customer buys a lot and is financially very stable, they will tend to get better payment terms.
The question is, are you people comparing apple to apple?
I am not siding NTUC in any way but I just like to expose BS on forums.
Well, actually the old days, many ppl get longer credit term... It is only because of the recession since 1998 that made COD the norm...Originally posted by dragg:normally big buyers get longer credit terms.
its nothing new.
so which of you really know the real practice in this trade?Originally posted by sbst275:If you think I am BS, I put this clearly
Provision shop: Either COD (Ends up 14 days) or 30 days
Supermarket: 30 days
NTUC: 90-120 days
Big then get better payment? Who are you trying to joke? Bef Lion gave their distributionship to PSC Corp, they gave many provision shop 90 day terms. It is not abt that you are stable or whatever, most cases are because it all depends on your products volume sales. Things that are sellable like bread or fresh milk are usually COD
I list some co that gives longer than 30day credit term and used toOriginally posted by dragg:so which of you really know the real practice in this trade?
Any supplier is free to sell to NTUC whatever price they seem appropriate. Nobody can force them to sell at a price they don't want to. Its a free country my friend. Does the govt put a gun to your head to do otherwise?Originally posted by sbst275:Well, actually the old days, many ppl get longer credit term... Actually, many dun wanna trade with NTUC is not just the credit term, they want a 30% margin of goods, others coping with 5-10% margin...
Not free?Originally posted by Salman:Any supplier is free to sell to NTUC whatever price they seem appropriate. Nobody can force them to sell at a price they don't want to. Its a free country my friend. Does the govt put a gun to your head to do otherwise?
Do you have any proof that equivalent supermarkets are getting higher prices and shorter terms than NTUC? compare apple to apple please. Don't try to sneak in small shops to chains. I can smell a hypocrisy when i see one.
hanor, hanor.Originally posted by dragg:i believe sbst too.
someone has an agenda here, so he cannot be trusted.
Are you sure we have a choice ?Originally posted by Salman:You see, you jump from one thing to the next. Your whole agenda is to criticise the govt.
Do we have a choice? Yes indeed. Had Singaporeans be more independent, the govt would have backed off long ago. You can't always blame the govt for pampering us, you need backbone to stand up.
Yes, we are independent but we can not compete with the government in the same biz (They are into almost all biz).Originally posted by Salman:You see, you jump from one thing to the next. Your whole agenda is to criticise the govt.

Since when SG is a free market?
I dun think there are any pt talking with you, obviously the govt makes sure NTUC survives yet you dun believe, saying NTUC nothing to do w govt... If that NTUC chief is a ruling party and a cabinet minister, then think again
bullshit? i think no one here can compare with you.Originally posted by Salman:Lets back track and see what you people BS.

without him and the connections to the govt, do you think NTUC will enjoy the protection it has always been enjoying?Originally posted by Salman:Does the gen sec run the whole NTUC?
govt back off? with monopoly profits to enjoy and a docile population with which to feed off from, who would back off for a hundred years? hey, that's how they built the great wall, from the backs of millions of slaves ...Originally posted by Salman:You see, you jump from one thing to the next. NTUC can tag their goods any price they want.
You can also buy from Shop and Save, Cold Storage and Sheng Siong or even your neighbourhood shop. Govt also cannot put a gun to your head and force you to buy from NTUC. Again its a free country.
You getting the point?
