Did the Electricity tariff or the bus fare lower when the fuel prices is down ??
Computation of Electricity Tariff: approx 18 cents per kilowatt hour = (1) Cost of generating electricity: 6 cents + (2) Network charge - 6 to 9 cents + (3) Amortisation : 3 to 6 cents (Land and Equipment)
Land was acquired by using taxpayers many years ago. By right taxpayers should not be charged again for the land cost.
Network costs refer to the costs of generating electricity for the network from Extra High Tension at 660 KV to 220 KV from 220 KV to 66 KV, 66KV to 22 KV 22KV to 220V and standby generators to provide Maximum Demand during peaks. High voltage users like utility companies use 660KV but were exempted from paying the normal Maximum Demand charge of 6-9 cents per kilowatt-hour. Is this kind of electricity tariff sustainable and equitable.
The normal consumers are paying for everything to subsidise the higher end users for the network costs of 6-9 cents while the land costs were already paid and should not be charged again. This is another instance of NKF lack of accountability and transparency in charging consumers for electricity supply.
If consumers are not made to pay for all the extra charges in the first place, why should electricity be costing S$@#$& per household???
