Lift Upgrading, Unfair to PRs?

Recently my lift got selected for the Lift Upgrading Programme, but residents gets to vote whether they want the upgrade or not.
But the thing is, only Singaporean residents gets to vote, PRs are not eligible to vote. Futhermore, PRs are to pay $10,800 for the upgrade if the majority agrees to the upgrade, while Singaporeans only needs to pay $540, the rest will be subsidised by the government and town council.
I find this very unfair to the PRs, they don't get to vote yet they must pay $10,800 for the upgrade.

I feel that the old retirees are the most poor thing. They usually dun want any upgrading as it is expensive and causes inconvenience, yet they have to either pay for upgrading or shift out. upgrading should be done free since sg ppl already paid so much...

funny ..... some chappies were complaining about the burdens of citizenship .... NS etc .... and wondering where the privileges of citizenships were ....

indeed. 10,000 isn't a small sum.

This lift upgrading scheme has always in my eyes, been a political tool.
Public housing is public housing, and any R&R to it, should be borne by the government.
To make people pay for the upgrades , especially when they have not voted for it, is unfair.Furthermore, this method of forcing PRs to take up citizenship is wrong, however subtle it may be.
Burden of citizenship?Yeah there is a great deal too. -

As for PRs having to pay more, its rather sad... which is why, when I was working as a Real Estate Agent, we always advise PRs to buy units that are on lift level, so they don't have to pay for upgrading mah... I think a lot of PRs know about this already. So I see no cause for complains.
Why not say its unfair to those Singaporeans who are not living on lift level and have to pay for the upgrading while their neighbours living on life levels don't have to fork out a single cent?
As with most govt invoices, lift upgrading can be paid in instalments....

Its pay to be a citizen.
Its normal, just like u join a club you deserve priveliges as a member.
If everyone gets the same goodies, what good is it to be a citizen?
Then all PRs get what u get and they will be contented to remain PR for life. -

Govt subsidise citizens only? Why so unfair to foreigners when we are all human beings?
I advice this PR to move to a flat that has already been upgraded. -

it depends on what you buy or sell, you may even make in the process.
An upgraded flat won't cost you another 100k you dummy. -

If I'm not wrong, PRs are advised before they do get a flat that upgrading is going to cost them. So they would choose the floor which already has a lift landing, so they can siam.

It is only fair that PRs should pay more than citizens. As for the vote, citizens should have a greater say than PRs in any case
