Then why Durai had to consult the Health minister before resigning ah?Originally posted by Salman:NKF is not govt backed in any way. But since it is corrupt, you govt bashers want to lump them together.

Even GCT had to make an appearance to support his wife, who is the sponsor of the NKF.Originally posted by Salman:NKF is not govt backed in any way. But since it is corrupt, you govt bashers want to lump them together.

He simply sought advice. If he was govt backed, he wouldn't have to step down nor will he be exposed at all. come to think of it, had NKF be govt backed, there wouldn't even be a chance to cheat the public.Originally posted by charlize:Then why Durai had to consult the Health minister before resigning ah?
Why single out NKF in your reply to me? Rising costs of medical care is in all aspects not only kidney patients. NKF is not the only charity organization in Singapore. So why claim that "government which needed some form of charity base to head off a crisis of high medicare costs which have grown out of reach of ordinary citizens then."Originally posted by robertteh:The point 2 problem had not happened due to naturally rising cost. It happened because of political expediency, as medicare and essential government services have grown too expensive being pushed up by government's own high wage policy of the 1980s - 1990s that government has to find an NKF to head off a crisis of sort through charity medicare.
So it fitted the bill of GCT government to find an alternative of providing medicare through charity explaining its support for and the rise of NKF to offer some kind of relief to moderate the government-driven high medicare costs.
However this government-backed NKF has created its own problem due to the powerful government support as with such support, no ordinary board of mortality would try to check on such rising power which eventually overwhelmed the board which lost control over its internal running of the kind reported.
This NKF problems did not happen due to naturally rising costs but was partly created by the government which needed some form of charity base to head off a crisis of high medicare costs which have grown out of reach of ordinary citizens then. So how could ministers now try to push away its part of the blame for causing the NKF.
And Ren Ci is also PAP backed... because Media Corp is also doing charity shows for them...Originally posted by Atobe:Even GCT had to make an appearance to support his wife, who is the sponsor of the NKF.
If the government did not back the NKF, will it allow Media Corp to help NKF in its fund raising effort ?
Who do you think owns Media Corp ?
"Stupid conspiracy theory" ?
Is this the first time that the Ruling Party knocked down one of its lackeys, whom they have groomed but refused to step down gracefully ?
Do you think that the Government a.k.a the Ruling Party will go to such lengths - as to bring Durai into the Courts, if Durai had simply backed down, and step down from his long held "eagle's nest" built on top of an "ivory tower" ?
The entire situation went out of control, much like the situation with the dismissal of the late President Nair, who was also caught on a wrong footing and refused to step down gracefully, and was eventually stuck in a similar "dog-eat-dog" saga.
Are we hypocrites ?
Durai still had his loyal supporters, who still refused to believe that he has done any wrong. Are they hypocrites ?
Similarly, there are plenty of carpet beggars supporting, defending, and refusing to see the damage done to Singapore by the unchecked powers and influence of the "Power of ONE" - One Personality, One Family, One Party.
Pots calling the Kettles BLACK ?
As far as I understand, Members of Parliament are paid approx $11k a month irregardless whether they are PAP or Opposition....and for every Parliament Sitting they go, ALL MPs get allowance... So how???Originally posted by robertteh:The biggest financial losses that can happen to any country is not happening from stealing of a few dollars from the drawers but huge plundering of a country monies by legalistically using party-majority votes to push bills through parliaments to pay ministers' millions of salaries and uncapped bonuses under the pretext of eliminating temptation of corruption.
The amounts of such legalistic taking of public monies from majority self-voting of in parliament are in billions over the lifespan of ministers taking into account paying the ministers' another 20-30 years of automatic annuities after two terms.

Please explain to me by what Atobe and you are proclaiming that NKF is govt backed. Any concrete evidence, besides the ex-patorn being Mr. GCT? If this scandal happened to Ren Ci, does it mean Ren Ci is govt backed too? How about MILK?
I know that NKF is a good loophole to "whack" the gahmen, but please provide concrete evidence (not just assumptions) that NKF is PAP backed, and I will bow to your statements...
but in Durai's defamation suits agst his three ex-employees, the cases were settled out of court and didn't reached court hearing.Originally posted by Medicated Oil:If the court can be trusted, then the panist, the football player, the rich man's son and the breadmaker would be in jail now.
So, expect more drama and surprises as no money is EMBEZZLED or pocketed.
It is just a case of mis-management.
No one is guilty.
Mr Durian is a lawyer, he is not stupid.
You can afford to go to court?Originally posted by pearlie27:but in Durai's defamation suits agst his three ex-employees, the cases were settled out of court and didn't reached court hearing.

So are you proposing a Welfare Economy approach to ruling Singapore similar to Thatcher's?Originally posted by Atobe:"Backed" as in approved, recognised, accepted, annointed.
Had the Ruling Party - that form the Singapore Government over the last Forty years - taken a larger responsibility towards looking after infirmed, sick, and aged, and not left it to the charity and responsibility of hard pressed Singaporeans - then opportunities for such scandals need not occur.

So are you proposing a Welfare Economy approach to ruling Singapore similar to Thatcher's?Do you know the taxation rates in UK just to support that? When taxes go up... again we will have another group of people complaining... It will never end.....
