if you are not a defeatist go abroad and get skills that are truly global then whats the point of getting your skills here in a mediocritic country that you find unbearable, aren't you also using singapore as a stepping stone, you have the balls to talk big walk the talk.Originally posted by LazerLordz:go abroad if your skills are truly global.what for go abroad and work at macs.
it's the defeatist attitude of accepting mediocrity that's killing us.
I registered a business as an IT consultancy. Just do like 2 or 3 websites or software packages a year to make it seem like you are "in business". Otherwise, my primary job is still working for a corporation. Moonlighting is acceptable in Australia, so long as it doesn't affect your performance. You are not required to declare other jobs with the employer, only the tax office will know. If you register a business, whatever income that you obtain from that business will be added to your taxable income. Similarly, whatever net losses you make are deducted from your taxable income.Originally posted by alwaysdisturbed:wad sideline business did u registered?

There r thing which Australia can offer but not Singapore.Originally posted by KumSioJui:well those that complain that old people have to lift trash bag at food courts or life is too fast here for an educated young graduate maybe you like to suggest how we can earn our living when we don't have any oil or natural resources instead of complaining and complaining non stop.
I seem to remember those old friends and neighbours who left for "greener pastures" in 83 to australia or canada during a bad recession only to realise that the place the went are good only if you are white and I'm not being prejudiced here, and sure you can make it if you willing to work hard taking any job like a bus driver, cleaner or working in macdonalds, jobs that white people don't want. They realise just how difficult it was and many sent their daughters back here to find work or send their sons back to do national service just so to get the citizenship, So what was the point to leave in the first place then?
Those that want to go it's up to you, it's your life, it's your choice but if you have the balls to talk big and want to go in the first place please don't ever come back here begging for work when things turn bad for you over there because you will be competiting for the local jobs with the true sons of this country who didn't cut tail and run.
I can't speak for all singaporeans who've migrated to Australia but my personal experience, having lived both in Singapore and Australia, is that the Australians on the whole are definitely not racist people. Of course there'll be the odd case where the singaporean migrant may encounter some of the less educated type but this to me seems to be the exception rather than the norm. At a guess I'd say the singaporean living in australia receives no less hassling than the australian living in singapore.

Yeah, I'm thinking you might sound like a person who has been there and could not acheive what he wanted, therefore the sourpuss and argy-bargy about this whole issue.Apparently, it really grates on your nerves loads to see others talking about making a life for themselves abroad.Originally posted by KumSioJui:if you are not a defeatist go abroad and get skills that are truly global then whats the point of getting your skills here in a mediocritic country that you find unbearable, aren't you also using singapore as a stepping stone, you have the balls to talk big walk the talk.
the first part sounds like salman.Originally posted by lionnoisy:Too many say many Sg citizens migrated .How many?Pl tell the exact
no. here. How can we discuss without knowing the facts?
We have some 3.1 million citizens, and 300,000 PR,
and some 800,000 non-citizen nor PR,total popualtion 4.2 million.
I read fr ST that for the past few years, the no. is few thousand per year.
Is it many compared with 3.1 million?
No actually it doesn't grate on my nerves to see other people having a good life even if it's bettter than mine. It grates on my nerves after they have gone over there they tend to talk bad about the shortcomings to the people who are still here as if to justify whatever reason why they had to go away in the first place and try to influence others to do the same so that if more people see their point of view and also leave it makes them feel good that they got even somehow with the system, f.uck you lah I find that to be most immature and coward thinking. How one improve his/her life anywhere depends on your own attitude with your kind of attitude better you stay there and don't ever come back. Good riddance.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Yeah, I'm thinking you might sound like a person who has been there and could not acheive what he wanted, therefore the sourpuss and argy-bargy about this whole issue.Apparently, it really grates on your nerves loads to see others talking about making a life for themselves abroad.
We who have moved or will move, do so for many reasons other than mere work. They can be family related reasons, the search for a good place to pursue our interests which we cannot do so here, like hunting, aviation and affordable boating. Some of us move there to get away from the rat race and the lack of real say in our own government/local interest group/council issue. Many reasons exist., and you seem to tell us that it's all a pointless exercise?
Walk the talk eh, sounds like one of the typical refrain you find in our propagandist media thrown to people who have the ability to debate out loud over real, substantial issues. There is a difference between fair discussion and action. You do not criticise the analyst for not being an activist, because he has no need, and not beholden to just anyone to do so either.
Calm down.It works to reduce your blood pressure.![]()
Is there anything wrong with converting others to their cause.Frankly, they could have just shut up, but it's only human to share what you have learnt.Originally posted by KumSioJui:No actually it doesn't grate on my nerves to see other people having a good life even if it's bettter than mine. u look at the govt. then worse, u look at people like salman who seems to think the govt can do no wrong, when they are basically denying people their right to be a living, breathing individual and be manufactured cogs in a machine. u look at the way singaporans slag off, abuse or neglect sg-born talents. no wonder people want to leave.Originally posted by gill_hfc:Salman and the other writer are missing the point in my thread....this so called 'Part Time Singaporeans' are using us to move on further.....If one migrates to Australia, chances are one will settle down in Australia for good....in the case of Singapore I think alot of these people from third world countries use us to get a Singapore passport and then move on to other developed countries....this new 'Part Time Singaporeans' have no loyalty or intentions of staying here forever.....like the case of the guy i met in London he used a Singapore passport, achieved through his citizenship, to apply to migrate to London...he never had any intentions of staying in singapore forever...
it's sad that to maintain a real native Singaporean identity, we have to be abroad.Do you think our own little culture will survive the influx of foreigners who use us as a stepping stone, and refuse to integrate fully?Originally posted by HENG@:u look at the govt. then worse, u look at people like salman who seems to think the govt can do no wrong, when they are basically denying people their right to be a living, breathing individual and be manufactured cogs in a machine. u look at the way singaporans slag off, abuse or neglect sg-born talents. no wonder people want to leave.
honestly, the way it is going now, i might not want to keep the Singaporean identity either. I mean, im already telling people now, that im a Londoner, just that I also tell them where I was born.Originally posted by LazerLordz:it's sad that to maintain a real native Singaporean identity, we have to be abroad.Do you think our own little culture will survive the influx of foreigners who use us as a stepping stone, and refuse to integrate fully?
well, HENG@, you might have made a good choice to stay in the Isles.![]()
I'm not wagging my finger at those who have left, I'm wagging my finger at people like you who have left and trying to be funny to use other people to get even with our system. As for seeing much of the world I won't say I have seen everything but I think I have been to more places than most here and I don't think you have seen very much of it yourself either so pls don't talk big.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Is there anything wrong with converting others to their cause.Frankly, they could have just shut up, but it's only human to share what you have learnt.
You don't want to leave this place, you can choose not to listen.Don't wag your finger at those who have left and wish to enlighten some of those who are still in the dark about opportunities abroad. How much of the world have you really seen?No offence, but many Singaporeans have not seen much of the world and yet they think that our fair little island is the crown jewel of the world, because they have been exposed to only one point of view.
Cheers.It's your life anyway.

Please don't try to make it sound like opportunities abroad are a sure thing, don't they have their own locals who are also qualified? Firstly being a migrant you come in what do you have in common with them, you can't understand their white jokes, you dunno their sports, their politics and you don't even talk like them so why should they hire you? Because you have a NUS degree?
As for "our fair little island" you and the rest of your kind who have left or are leaving are not considered part of "our" anymore you are a foreigner here or soon to be one and maybe even a second class citizen in your new country. Shouldn't you be joining australian or canadian online forum instead? Why you still so keen in singapore politics or singaporean things since you hate your kind here so much. Oh I see you can't understand their politics even while you are there and probably they don't invite you to their weekend BBQ or drinks after work so you're bored or maybe in your job you have kiss @ss or suck up to your white colleagues or employers everyday so at night you come here to brag abt the great opportunities to be had over there to try to con gullible people to go over and join you so that after a while there will be a flourishing "ex-singaporean" community over there so at least your weekends in future won't be so boring huh? Have a great life.

You actually think I stay in Australia.
Goodness me..
Oh, anyway, it doesn't mean you have to be a Caucasian to fully immerse and appreciate and live in other cultures. All it takes is some study in anthropology, cultural communications, and a dash of semiotics.
If you wish to condemn those who have left, and spit on them, it only shows how insecure you are.Does it make you happy at night to have scolded a emigrant? Is that the way you assuage your subconscious?Your posts have only served to inflame me and a few silent individuals here, and I do not want to go on and be a dickhead, so here's to your beliefs and I sincerely wish you the best in whatever you do because you need it.
Cheers. This will be my last reply to you.Believe it if you wish to, or not.
leave means not part of sg anymore meh? i think the stayers should be the people who still have an active interest in singapore society, whether they are physically there or not. the REAL QUITTERS are the ones who just bo chup whether the system is turning into cow dung or not.Originally posted by KumSioJui:I'm not wagging my finger at those who have left, I'm wagging my finger at people like you who have left and trying to be funny to use other people to get even with our system.
