  to get US citizenship at the expense of singapore being part of US... will u take it?
  
  for me, i think its a good idea.. since the job market is so poor now... so many people jobless. if we are part of US, then there would be much more job openings. at the same time, we wont need to fear threats from our bigger neighbours anymore, with the strong backing of US. i believe being part of US will also boost our economy thru better trades flexiblity...
  
  what you guys think?

  That's bad; we'd have more problems. One of them being becoming in the top priority list of the Terrorists for attacks.
  
  Then there are racial issues, crime rates, etc etc...

  there will be good and bad but I think it will be bad!!
  
  The only good is that none of us will need to serve NS.
  
  I am not sure there will be more jobs for us. Instead, I see many mainland Chinese turned american coming here looking for jobs. A lot of ABC will also come here speaking their american accent english competing for jobs with us.
  
  Socially, a lot of african and hispanic americans coming here, can we handle?
  
  malay, chinese, tamil, and singlish languages may remain official languages it will soon be overshadowed by the american language, can we accept that?
  
  If our traditional festivals remain official public holidays, like Chinese New Year, vesak day, hari raya haji, then adding in the american public holidays, we will have many more holidays. But what if our traditional holidays are replaced by the americans, can we accept that?
  
  these are just a few points that affects our life here.
  
  We lose our identity if singapore become part of america, think again.

  haha.. well.. in US they got this unemployment benefit.. so even if u are jobless, u need not worry a bit!
  
  as for singlish.. well.. from the beginning, it isnt really a proper language.. so if u are saying we'd be picking up some real english at the expense of singlish, then i dont really think thats a problem... anyway.. those who choose to live in SG can continue on their usual way of living... carry on speaking in singlish etc..
  
  but losing identity is one major problem i foresee... but other than that i think there's not much of a prob...

  you like street protest, violence, kids bring guns and killing peers in school?

  Yes,there are more jobs.Pl bear in mind there are much more
  eligible applicants for the same job!!
  
  Besides Amercians,there are fr China.incl Taiwan,India
  etc.Many of them are smarter than us.Sorry to say this.

  currently gainfully employed and don't think unemployment benefit is of any attraction.
  
  american english is real english? hehe...then everything in america is good, and why should losing identity be a major problem?

  hmmm... street protest is really nth wrong, as long as there is no violent smashing of public or private property, which there isn't in USA. As for violence, every country has it, even Signapore: teen gangs, bullying, assault etcetc. Just because TNP/ST/TODAY don't report, doesn't mean it don't exist here. As for kids bringing guns and killing peers, the statistics are state-specific; some states, I'm sure, are pretty peaceful.

  this is something many singaporeans are not aware of. When it come to chinese looking faces in america, those just migrated from Taiwan and China, speak much better chinese than singaporean and the ABC speak better american than us. The battle is already tougher, some more all our advantage in multi racial and multilingual exposure disappear. May be unemployment benefit is really necessary.

  oh, wait a minute, aren't we already part of US? Considering tat we support them in their war against terror, letting their ships and planes park at our naval and air base whenever they come, and we signing FTAs with them? Truth be told, I will RATHER become an Malaysian than to take up US citizenship. The backlash against Americans are so strong nowadays. Everything the US govt do, the American public kenna backlash. Not worth it

  There is good and bad point of becoming an US citizen.
  
  Good point: No need to serve NS. More job opportunities. Chewing Gums. Tasty Burgers.
  
  Bad Point: If you stare at someone, it's not about knnccb, but guns. High number of crimes. Weird Insect. Mother Nature(Storm).
  
  Any, IMO i feel prefer US obtaining an US citizenship to Singapore citizenship.

  Job rates in US are worse. I won't choose that.
