What do you think of my suggestion for the GE?

Hi pp...the year is here for the GE again..well, when economy is doing "well" as what the govt had painted, they are bound to hold the GE soon in favor of their position....
But i m sure most of you will be there on the voting day, staying at home when your zone is walked over again.."when will i have the chance to ever voite?"

I am thinking of writing to the STfourm and suggest to the govt on this...
Why dont we hold a vote for all the district regardless of whether they have opposition or not? In this way, the govt can have a rough idea how well they are received in districts where there is always virtual walkovers. And also give them the reflection of what the citizens think of them. In most places, the govt doesnt do much to upgrade districts which walkover...
In their campaign, they normally gives tons of privileages to those citizens in "hot zone" for votes...and ignore people in "cold zones"

anyway, i suggested it because in a "democratic" society like sg, everyone of age shld be voting when election is held. So that the govt that will be form, gathered the most votes, as well as knowing their stand in parts of singapore so that they can do more things for the citizens. I haven had the chance to vote since reach the legal age.

You haven't got the chance to vote since you reached legal age? Go ask around how many are way over their legal age to vote and have not been able to do so.

Don't think it a good idea because firstly you are not living in that district and that made you don't have the right to determine who should be in charge of that district. (Example: What will the people in Queensland state in Aust think if the people from Victoria state get involve with their voting? Doesn't make sense rite?).
Secondly, it will be sabotaging the other district residents and current MP as in you are putting the fault of your district MP on another MP which is not justified. Also if that district resident prefer certain MP but due to the interference from ppl in other districts and ended up losing their "belove" MP do you think it fair to them?
Lastly, isn't it better to pester (or whatever you call it) your district MP if you think that he/she is not doing their job or not caring for you all. Also if we are able to vote for MP in other district, why not group all the districts into one and all of us can vote for which person shouold be the MP to lead the "unified" district then there won't be hot or cold district anymore. -

what i meant was that in every districts, all the citizens are allowed to vote to see if their MP is still in strong support or not...so of cse you only vote within your own zone!
well, but like what some said, the govt wldnt want to be embrassed either...

but i shld say, the govt had did reasonable well for the past few years, though i tthink the standards can be improved for more welfare of aged and needy.. and of cse, create more jobs...and really improve the economy more! -
My bad and sincere apology to you. Well if that the case maybe you should suggest to your constitution on having quaterly, halfly or yearly feedback from residents so as to know what is their thought. This maybe a better choice since if let say a district that was not contested but their MP got voted out then who gonna take charge of it and ended up more confusion isn't it?
I think overall it depend on how pro-active the residents and MP are willing to go. If not many ppl willing to give constructive suggestions, i think no matter which MP is leading that district it will be the same. And afterall it take two hand to clap. -
don't vote just for the sake of voting, that's all i can say. If it is a walkover, it is not the PAP's fault, but rather, it is the inability of the opposition to field a team there.

I have heard slightly different variations of this idea at least 5 times in my life In the internet and press.
