Can someone tell me if it's a chargable offence when someone makes a phone sexual harassment call?
What's the punishment like?
Will Singtel help in this case because the call is made to a residential line but without caller ID?
Any more information is greatly appreciated. My female friend got a phone call like that and I am going to hunt down the man. -

It may be funny to you, but it's not to my female friend. This man, if lucky, will just face the police, otherwise, I would very much like to press charges against this man. Let's just hope he's rich, otherwise he better clean his butt and have a longer imprisonment.

Well, if the problem is a serious one, you can approach the CID who will be able to work with SingTel. But if it's just prank calls, the CID might laugh in your face, so just call SingTel and see what they can do.

Thanks, that's what I intend to do later with the victim. I was just hoping to run into someone who knows about the law or someone who can provides some advice on dealing with such situations. Thanks alot, i appreciate your guys replies. This girl just changed number a month ago, and under contract so unlikely to switch number. Yeah, I've called Singtel and haven't been able to get through for like, half an hour, I'm going to keep trying but in the meantime I'm seeking advice. Singtel lines are always busy. -
you need to record evidence of harassment, preferable sexual tones and if any threats on life. that note if there are any blackmailing involved.
after that report police. the CID love this type of job especially with recorded evidence. they will know what to do. a peice of cake for them. -
Unfortunately in this case, there is no real evidence, I don't know how to record or tap the phone calls anyway the last I heard it's illegal to do so. Wanted to call Singtel to trace the calls but they can't give out due to privacy. Went to lodge a police report earlier, they treat this as a civil case and had to go to the court to continue with the procedure and get the letter or something, then the police will assist with the investigation. It's troublesome really and the police says until as if the victim will be an idiot to continue pursue the matter. There is no threats, just sexual harassment I believe. For other people, it probably ends at that. But imagine if you happen to be the victim, you feel outraged and insulted, but worse of all, in order to pursue the matter you have to face so many red tapes.
