Well, it say the lowest 20% of income earners. Given Singapore's 3.9million population, it is DEFINITELY more than 200,000 people.Originally posted by LinYu:According to the news report, 200,000 people will benefit from this package. This is only valid if they are working for at least 6 month.
So the number of people earning less than $1200 is far more than the 200K people.![]()

Its' 20% of income earners not the total population. there are about 2m in the workforce. So, 20% is 400,000 people.Originally posted by anonymouscoward:Well, it say the lowest 20% of income earners. Given Singapore's 3.9million population, it is DEFINITELY more than 200,000 people.

it's not just the nanyang grads, generations of chinese eds had been disadvantaged throughout their lives because of the sudden and complete switch towards english.Originally posted by 84mmrr:Its' 20% of income earners not the total population. there are about 2m in the workforce. During the 60-70s, many do not have opportunities/motivations to even complete Sec education. In the 80s, Govt insisted on closing Nanyang Uni. Govt did not realise that these will create problems for the not-well educated. So, you're right that the govt had screwed up.
You are wrong in that you pay only a small proportion of the total tax base.Originally posted by RaTtY81:which pt m i wrong? do i no pay GST? pls tell me? den if i pay GST which part m i wrong? i do not contribute to the gov?
