Don't talk about logistic nightmare. Employees are given at least 8 months notice before an ICT. I think its a management problem. -
Actually I don't see any problems with that .... Don't forget other countries are worst... eg. China - 15 days LEAVE FOR THE WHOLE COMPANY for CNY. Italy has summer hols and Christmas Hols where only 1 or 2 staff is back in office. So what problem does it make to have 1 person in the company on ICT for 2-3 weeks?
If it really affects, then write in for deferment lah...

well ... thing is ... you got to remember ... that the system is administered by live human beings ...
and that's where the problems come in ... remember back in our active days, what's the favourite sport ? ... whinning and bitching about why other people have a better life than ours in NS right ? ...
some commanders are pretty flexible when it comes to welfare (read: deferments) ... they understand that we're reservists who have our own life and careers outside ....
others are pricks ... they'll squeeze your balls to prop up their own career, or they simply don't grasp that we're NSmen now ... not some blur conscript that they can call upon to do sai kang for ...
my sympathies to the chap described ... I don't mind being called back every year for some proper training that'll keep me current ... but to be interrupted from my civvy life and career to scratch the balls of some commanders at a change of command ceremony, I'll say "up yours too" ... -
