Have you seen how she defended Durai during the trial? And how many highly paid iron rice bowl ministers would dare to challenge his "boss" wifeOriginally posted by ahce911991:Sala lah you. PM Goh. Should be SM Goh liao. With or without her, Durai maybe will be less cocky. However, the auditors and health ministry may not do their job properly.
If he can come up with such creative practices such that the previous auditors did not notice it, do you think if time is reversed and the same auditors audit again, will they notice it? I don't think so.
Got. But forget most liao. Only remember the peanuts part....Originally posted by Gazelle:Have you seen how she defended Durai during the trial? And how many highly paid iron rice bowl ministers would dare to challenge his "boss" wife

its pretty much an open cheque book policy. it explains alot about the recent shopping spree undertaken by Temasek and the other GLC's. alwayas wondered where the money was coming from. How could such an important ammendment be tabled without a full debate in Parliment? The strategy of passing bills quietly during national disasters is a strategic policy of getting bad news to sink in quickly when attentions are focused elsewhere by the public. the british government are pros in executing bad news.Originally posted by charlize:On the issue of Singapore's reserves, here's something I found that I am sure not many people are aware about.
It was an amendment to the Constitution regarding the use of the reserves sometime in April 2004.
The article and the links are self explanatory.

For those who just want the "10 words or less" summary, the amendment is basically for allowing the government to dig into the reserves for whatever reasons they deem necessary for the GLCs and stat boards.
I started a new thread on this Budget Surplus issue recently.Originally posted by gill_hfc:its pretty much an open cheque book policy. it explains alot about the recent shopping spree undertaken by Temasek and the other GLC's. alwayas wondered where the money was coming from. By the way did anyone read an article in the ST yesterday where our Budget accounting is questioned by economist and the IMF. We do not apprently have any budget deficits even after passing out goodies cause the government does not include land sales and income earned on its reserves into deficit/surplus equation. If we include government land sales into our budget accounting alone we should have surpluses every year. if land sales is not accounted in the budget by the government where is the revenue of land sales exactly reflected? any idea?
