Be Lenient To Foreigners? That's Illogical

jason taylor 33, was sentenced to 11 mths' jail after he was caught with a packet of cocaine last month.
his lawyer urged the court to be lenient as the scotsman would be returning home after his conviction and would not pose a public risk here. -
people rant about equal treatment for everyone..
yet there are locals who are angry with people like that pianist who got fined.. saying that the people here need to grow up before people like that come back..
yes.. we really need to grow up... but i wonder who?
everyone is supposed to be equal under the law.. are these people advocating "some are more equal than others" ? -

Come on, this guy is not a millionaire.
So, he did not deserve the "equal" treatment that was given to the breadmaker.
"equal" treatment can only and only be given to the top 5% of Singapore i.e. the Elite.
To think that he can get away from the punishment without any contribution to the Singapore Economy is Ridiculous. -

the most funny one of all was when one of the chaps, the artist guy with a Belgium wifey, was given bail, ... BAIL ! .... in a drug case ! .... he absconded out of the country of course ... what were they thinking then ?!?! ...

Frankly, if we are letting the foreigners go off with a sentence lower than a handphone driving penalty, I think we really need to re-consider how we are treating our very own citizens, people who have served their NS time, people who do not have the luxury of flying in and out the nation as they will.

Cannabis is one example. Depending on what kind of cannabis is found on you and the composition of the cannabis, you MAY or MAY NOT be sentenced to death. But certain drugs will certainly land you in a death sentence.

Cocaine is hardly abused in Singapore, and not many people are found possessing cocaine. That's the reason why the sentence is quite light. It's not even stated in the law book. I think the argument of the accused's lawyer is reasonable."Equal" in law doesn't mean everyone get equal punishment.
