Indonesian Playboy triggers furore among conservative Muslims
Shall Sg allow Playboy like magazines selling here?But for those in the know, illicit imported copies of the magazine are already sold by vendors such as 23-year-old Jimmy, who produced a November 2004 edition upon request at Central Jakarta's famous Kwitang used book market.
The devout Muslim has no difficulty in reconciling his trade with his religion.
"God has His own ways for everyone to earn their living. I believe there will always be customers who want to buy these magazines from me," he told AFP.
His biggest fear was being caught by undercover police officers "who want to jail me but also want to keep my magazines," he complained. -

the indonesian playboy has no nude pics...if singapore had one to it'd probably be along the same line...then why bother letting playboy in when other bikini/skimpy clothed mags like maxim or fhm are already doing the job?

Yes. Singapore should allow Playboy to be sold in bookstores. But, i feel that the government should put an age limit for people buying that magazine. Eg, 18 years old or above. To continue competing with other countries, Sg should be more "open-minded"... And furthermore, there is nothing wrong about Playboy magazines and being a democratic and capitalistic country, Singapore should allow it to be imported and sold in bookstores.

Singapore can earn money from this
but students will be influenced to it which is bad for them at their age because they are still studying

What for......they are bad for society....even with non-nudes......yes it's same like such magazines already here, but they all should be taken off the shelves........everytime I walk pass a magazine stand, sort of feel uncomfortable......they're too vulgar.....

Porn is too hardcore and leaves too little to the imagination.
Soft porn can be more stimulating to those who are more sophisticated.
With a declining birth rate, what better way to encourage Singaporeans to take a "second look" and "rise" to the occassion in the National Interest ?
Since rules are being relaxed to develop casinos in the form of "Integrated Resorts" - perhaps the introduction of 'Soft Porn' such as 'Playboy' and
'Penthouse' and can be allowed under more creative relabelling such as a new IFM for 'Integrated Family Health' .
For the tudung to cover the 'hair' completely, it will have to be quite a big piece needed.
Perhaps we could have the publishers print and classify the publications as 'Halal' or 'non-Halal' so as not to offend and exclude our more religious brethens ? -
